RT reported on July 24 that President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will officially recognize the State of Palestine at a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, next September.
Mr Macron said the move was in pursuit of what he called a “historic commitment to a just and lasting peace ” in the region.
"The urgent need now is to end the conflict in Gaza and rescue the people," the French leader said.

Most countries in the world have recognized Palestine as an independent state, but the United States and many of its close allies oppose it.
With President Macron's decision, France will be the first country in the G7 group - including the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Japan and Italy - to officially recognize the State of Palestine.
The move comes as the Trump administration seeks to end the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Earlier, US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff said Washington had decided to send the negotiating team home for consultations "after the latest reaction from Hamas".
The deal being discussed calls for a 60-day ceasefire, in which Hamas would release 10 (Israeli) hostages alive and return the remains of 18 others in stages, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. Humanitarian aid supplies would be increased, and the two sides would negotiate a permanent ceasefire.
However, talks have stalled due to conflicting demands on how to end the conflict.
Hamas insists it will only release all hostages in exchange for a full Israeli withdrawal and an end to fighting. Israel, on the other hand, refuses to agree to end the campaign until Hamas relinquishes power and disarms, a condition the group rejects.
