Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and his wife are about to pay a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation ofPresident Vo Van Thuong and his wife.
President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh was born on June 14, 1968. He studied at the National Defense University of Mongolia, the Institute for Development of Public Administration, and the Law College of the National University of Mongolia.
Mr. Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh is the President of Mongolia, Chairman of the National Security Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces since June 2021.
President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh visited Vietnam in his capacity as Secretary General of the Mongolian People's Party in January 2010.
President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh met with President Vo Van Thuong at the coronation of British King Charles III in London in May 2023.
Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh has a strong affection for Vietnam and actively promoted the establishment of a new framework for relations with Vietnam in his positions as Deputy Prime Minister and Prime Minister of Mongolia.
Vietnam and Mongolia established diplomatic relations on November 17, 1954. In terms of politics, security and defense cooperation, delegation exchanges and bilateral contacts were maintained regularly before the COVID-19 outbreak.
Vietnam's senior leaders have sent an invitation to the Mongolian President to visit Vietnam on the occasion of Minister of Public Security To Lam's visit to Mongolia (July 2019).
Vietnam and Mongolia have a traditional friendship, often helping and supporting each other. In recent contacts, Mongolia has repeatedly emphasized the importance of its relationship with Vietnam, considering Vietnam an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region and emphasizing that Vietnam is the most important partner in Southeast Asia.
Vietnam and Mongolia are maintaining a political consultation mechanism at the Deputy Foreign Minister level (established in 2002). Most recently, the two sides held the 10th meeting in September 2022. Regarding economic cooperation, due to many objective reasons, especially geography and transportation, economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia remains modest.
