Traveling to City Ground on the evening of December 15, Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou kept the same starting lineup as in the victory over Newcastle last weekend, Richarlison playing as a striker and captain Son Heung Min playing on the left.
Tottenham started the game proactively and in the 3rd minute they had a chance to open the score, but captain Son Heung Min could not beat goalkeeper Matt Turner. A few minutes later, Brennan Johnson also forced Nottingham goalkeeper Turner to make a difficult save.
Nottingham almost opened the scoring in the 28th minute, but Anthony Elanga missed a chance to score when he failed to beat goalkeeper Vicario in a one-on-one situation.
In the 32nd minute, Brennan Johnson left the field due to injury, making way for Oliver Skipp. Tottenham continued to press the field and the London club's efforts were rewarded.
At the end of the first half, Kulusevski made a favorable pass for Richarlison to jump high and head the ball into Nottingham's net, helping the home team take the lead before entering the break.
In the 65th minute, Kulusevski sealed a 2-0 victory for Tottenham, when he took advantage of a poor clearance from goalkeeper Turner to unleash a powerful shot into the near corner.
Tottenham's victory was marred by Yves Bissouma's red card in the 70th minute after a tackle with the sole of his boot on a Nottingham player. With this defeat, Nottingham is now 16th in the Premier League table with 14 points, just 5 points above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have 33 points after the win over Nottingham, finishing 5th and level on points with 4th-placed Man City. In addition, Tottenham have created a 6-point gap with 6th-placed Man Utd (who face Liverpool this weekend).
