Ho Chi Minh City announces 10th grade competition ratio

According to statistics, in the 2025-2026 school year, the whole city has 76,435 candidates applying for non-specialized grade 10, 5,550 candidates applying for specialized grade 10 and 1,169 candidates applying for integrated grade 10.

After knowing the competition ratio, if needed, students have 5 days to adjust their wishes accordingly, from today until 5:00 p.m. on May 19 at the latest.

Details of the number of candidates registering for the first choice to enter high schools in the 2025 - 2026 school year are as follows:

The 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City takes place from June 6 to June 7. Candidates will take three subjects: Math, Literature, and Foreign Language. The time for the Math and Literature tests is 120 minutes, and the Foreign Language test is 90 minutes. If you register for a specialized school, you will take an additional specialized subject test (150 minutes). This year, all three subjects, Math, Literature, and Foreign Language, are scored with a coefficient of 1.

The 10th grade admission process is carried out in 2 phases. In phase 1, students register for 3 priority wishes 1, 2, 3 to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of high schools.

Phase 2 will depend on the actual application submission situation and the needs of high schools. The Department will decide on additional enrollment and issue written instructions to ensure the rights of candidates, on the basis of recruiting enough quotas for schools that are still lacking. Each student can register for 3 wishes, arranged in order of priority from high to low (wish 1, 2, 3). If they are admitted to a wish, they must study in that wish and cannot change their wish.
