Accordingly, the structure of the Literature exam for grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City this year has not changed, including 3 parts: Reading comprehension, Social commentary and Literary commentary.
However, the literature essay section has changed a bit. Students still have to choose one of two topics to write the essay.
Topic 1 requires students to analyze and perceive a specific work or excerpt from a work in the textbook. From there, point out the influence and impact of the work on themselves or relate it to another work, relate it to real life to draw a literary or life issue. Previously, students were allowed to choose their own work to write about.
Topic 2 poses a specific situation and requires students to use their knowledge and experience in the learning process to solve the situation. Students can choose the appropriate work or excerpt. Previously, Topic 2 posed a specific situation and required students to use their knowledge and experience in the learning process to solve the situation.
The reading comprehension and social commentary sections remain the same as in previous years. Specifically, the reading comprehension section includes texts that can be argumentative, informative, literary, scientific , etc.
These texts are selected from newspapers, commentaries, and science books with age-appropriate content, related to current events, to practice reading comprehension skills, express personal opinions on issues raised in the text; create different ways of expression, propose solutions, and give new titles.
The questions are organized according to thinking levels from easy to difficult, from recognition, understanding to analysis, reasoning and evaluation, and application.
The social argumentative essay section will be about 500 words long, requiring students to practice analyzing, correctly identifying the problem, developing the argumentative issue into arguments, applying argumentative operations well, closely combining reasoning and evidence, and drawing lessons from perception and action.
