Ho Chi Minh City responds to Book Day and Reading Culture 2025

From April 19-21, the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day took place in Ho Chi Minh City with the message: "Reading culture - Connecting the community", "Entering the era of national growth with books", "Reading books, enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity".

According to Mr. Trinh Huu Anh - Head of the Press and Publishing Department - Department of Culture and Sports (VHTT) of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City is part of a series of events of the city to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, held at Cong Truong Cong Xa Paris Street (from Nguyen Du to Le Duan), Ho Chi Minh City Book Street (Nguyen Van Binh Street, District 1) and simultaneously held in Thu Duc City and 21 districts in the city.

Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day took place with diverse activities such as: National opening ceremony; display and introduction of versions of the work "Duong Kach Menh" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its birth and newly published and reprinted books celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

In addition, 18 exchange programs and book introductions were organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. Highlights included the exchange program of the book series "Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City Heritage" and French - Indochina Architecture, traces of "Saigon - Pearl of the Far East"; exchange and book launch "Reading the history of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City in one breath", "From Ben Hai River to Independence Palace" (guest speaker is Hoang Nam Tien), "100 years of Tan Son Nhat airport".

The festival also displays and exhibits documents and publications on the theme "Ho Chi Minh Campaign - Symbol of revolutionary heroism" and the postage stamp set "Historical Ho Chi Minh Campaign on Vietnamese and world postage stamps".

Also according to the representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, during the 3 days of the Book and Reading Culture Day event, there will be book, cinema and music spaces; introducing art and music activities adapted from books; organizing book spaces and children's experience areas; introducing good models and solutions on digital transformation applications associated with the publishing industry such as: digital library system (talking book library), tools to support review and editing for the publishing industry by voice...

The event also includes online sales sessions on e-commerce platforms, innovative business methods, opening up many opportunities to promote the book market on digital platforms and digital transformation. At the same time, it promotes response activities in schools and the armed forces.

This year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to organize activities to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in the system of schools and training facilities, including a contest for excellent librarians in schools and training facilities of the education sector.
