Ho Chi Minh City donated more than 60 billion VND and nearly 3,000 tons of goods to support the Central region.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, from November 21 to 25, the City mobilized more than 60 billion VND and nearly 3,000 tons of goods and emergency necessities to support Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak to overcome the consequences of floods.

Implementing the Politburo 's direction on the task of supporting localities severely affected by floods, Ho Chi Minh City was assigned to directly support Khanh Hoa province. Specifically, on the afternoon of November 21, comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc chaired an urgent meeting with 28 departments, branches and units of the City to deploy relief work. Each unit was assigned tasks corresponding to the needs of Khanh Hoa, ensuring the mobilization of combined strength and timely support for people in disaster areas. All relief activities were coordinated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, maintaining synchronization and meeting actual needs.

On the night of November 21, the working group led by comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc left for Khanh Hoa to carry out support activities on November 22 and 23. Here, Ho Chi Minh City initially provided 50 billion VND from the budget and socialized resources to meet urgent needs.

In parallel with financial contributions, the City also activated 4 field kitchens, providing 24,000 meals per day for people and rescue forces. About 2,434 tons of essential goods including drinking water, rice, instant noodles, cakes, canned food, dry food, milk, life jackets, clothes, blankets, diapers, etc. were urgently transported to heavily flooded areas. In addition, 10,000 family medicine bags were prepared to support primary health care in deprived conditions.

To provide medical care for people in flooded areas, Ho Chi Minh City mobilized 30-50 doctors to be on duty every day in Khanh Hoa, participating in examination, treatment and controlling the risk of disease outbreaks after the flood. Sanitation and environmental teams were strongly deployed with 11 garbage trucks, 6 garbage compactors and 300 workers to collect and treat garbage and mud. In addition, 200 Mobile Police officers of Ho Chi Minh City Police were present in Khanh Hoa to support cleaning and overcoming consequences in areas where water receded.

Regarding human resources, Ho Chi Minh City also sent a large-scale volunteer force to help people in flooded areas, including 150 Youth Volunteers, 200 Youth Union members and 300 environmental sanitation volunteers to support people, especially in areas with heavy damage. Ho Chi Minh City also organized emergency repairs to 23 heavily damaged schools in Khanh Hoa to soon restore teaching and learning.

At the joint working session with Khanh Hoa province, the two localities agreed on plans to coordinate resources in a concentrated and practical manner. Khanh Hoa proposed to support four key groups, of which three groups need long-term implementation: health (care, disease control, psychological support), telecommunications (restoring 550 broadcasting stations), education (repairing 33 schools, purchasing equipment worth nearly 28 billion VND). Ho Chi Minh City departments and branches have been assigned to coordinate implementation immediately.

Not only supporting Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City also promptly provided support to other Central provinces. On the afternoon of November 25, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc presented Dak Lak province with 10 billion VND and 500 tons of goods and necessities to overcome the consequences of floods, continuing to affirm the City's spirit of affection and responsibility towards people in disaster-hit areas.

According to the representative of the Front, the coordination took place synchronously and urgently thanks to the participation of the entire political system, from departments, branches to volunteer forces, businesses and people of the City.

The City Front pledged to continue to closely monitor the situation and coordinate more socialized resources to join hands with Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and the Central provinces to quickly overcome difficulties and soon stabilize life.
