More than 76,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City finished their 10th grade entrance exams on June 7. From June 8, the exam marking council began marking. On June 11, teachers will mark the exams. The Departmentof Education and Training plans to announce the exam scores and benchmark scores on June 23-26.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the exam went smoothly. Only one candidate at Nguyen Thai Binh Secondary School in District 6 was suspended for writing on a ruler. A specialized exam room at Nguyen Huu Tho High School in District 4 leaked due to heavy rain, forcing students to move to a reserve room. The exam board gave the students extra time.
This year, public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City provide about 70,000 places, so the passing rate is more than 91%, the highest in recent years.
This year, the Literature exam was considered good, thought-provoking and had a lot of room for students to express themselves. The Math exam was considered to be closely following the content taught in school.
Meanwhile, the average score for English this year is expected to be between 6.8 and 7.5 points, higher than last year. The test is considered to be suitable and close to reality, helping candidates easily achieve high scores if they have solid knowledge and do the test carefully.
Last year, the benchmark scores for the 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City ranged from 10.5 to 24.25 for three subjects, with Nguyen Thuong Hien High School being the highest. Familiar faces in the top 10 often scored above 22 points, such as Nguyen Huu Huan High School, Gia Dinh, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Phu Nhuan, Mac Dinh Chi, Le Quy Don, and Nguyen Huu Cau.
The lowest benchmark scores are in the two suburban districts of Can Gio and Binh Chanh, with many schools "stagnating" at 10.5.
This year, the city has more than 76,400 of these students registering for the 10th grade exam, competing for more than 70,000 public school places. The admission rate is more than 91% - the highest in recent years.
Among 109 schools, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School has the highest competition ratio (1/2.9), with one in three students passing. On the other hand, more than 40 schools have a competition ratio of less than 1, meaning the number of registered candidates is less than the quota.
