The workshop is one of the main notable events at the 20th United Nations Vesak Celebration in 2025, with the participation of many delegates from 80 countries around the world , taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.
The conference consisted of a plenary session and three thematic sessions (in English and Vietnamese) with more than 300 presentations (in the morning and afternoon). The presentations focused on five main topics: Nurturing inner peace for world peace; Forgiveness and healing through mindfulness: The path to reconciliation; Buddhist compassion in action: Shared responsibility for human development; Mindfulness in education for a compassionate and sustainable future; and Fostering solidarity: Collaborative efforts for global harmony.

Here, the authors applied a multidimensional approach, combining the study of Buddhist scriptures with fields such as psychology, education, sociology, etc. In particular, the papers emphasized the role of applying Buddhist wisdom to solve contemporary challenges through key concepts such as impermanence, interbeing, and compassion.
At the same time, studies have demonstrated that Buddhist thought not only has spiritual value but also has high applicability in building peace, sustainable development and enhancing human dignity.
Typically, in the presentation with the theme “Nurturing inner peace for world peace”, Venerable Dr. Gallelle Sumanasiri, Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Council for Buddhist Development and Affairs, presented a presentation with the theme “Faith and compassion, inner peace and outer peace”.

According to speaker Gallelle Sumanasiri, “Humans are rational creatures, to face the challenges of life, humans have created many forms of community and religion is one of them. Facing and overcoming suffering and pain to achieve happiness is one of the challenges that is always present in human life. To solve that problem, Buddhism as a system of thought always puts humans as the subject and is aware of the power of human will and effort that can help them overcome suffering, achieve happiness and lasting peace without the support of supernatural forces”.

The speech of Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem, Vice President of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Propagation Committee, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hanoi, with the presentation "Vesak 2025: Solidarity and tolerance for human dignity - Buddhist wisdom for peace and sustainable development", highlighted the role of Buddhist wisdom in resolving suffering, creating harmony and building a sustainable foundation for humanity.
“Values such as solidarity, tolerance and respect for human dignity are not only moral ideals but also practical means to promote intercultural dialogue, overcome religious divisions and shape global policies based on wisdom and compassion,” affirmed Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem.
The 2025 Vesak Celebration, with the theme “Solidarity and Tolerance for Human Dignity: Buddhist Wisdom for World Peace and Sustainable Development”, was held for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City from May 6 to 8, with the participation of more than 2,700 delegates (about 1,250 delegates from 85 countries and territories, and about 1,500 domestic delegates).
