On December 16 and 17, people in Ho Chi Minh City clearly felt the cold weather in the early morning. Many people had to wear coats when going out to keep warm.

Sharing with reporters, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Quy (living in District 8) said that at the end of last week, Ho Chi Minh City had unseasonal rain, the sky was gloomy, no sunshine for many days. From December 15, the rain gradually decreased, which was also the time when he clearly felt the city's weather starting to get cold.

“Today (December 17), the morning is sunny, the temperature is gradually warming up, but the morning still feels chilly like the last month of the year, the air is really like Da Lat” - Mr. Quy said.

The meteorological agency said that cold air continues to strengthen southward, causing temperatures to drop, especially in the early morning and at night.

Mr. Le Dinh Quyet - Head of Forecasting Department of Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that currently, cold air continues to strengthen to the South, then diffuses into the Southern region, causing the temperature to decrease.

According to Mr. Quyet, from now until Christmas, this temperature will remain and will likely drop lower. The lowest temperature measured in the meteorological tent in the coming days is forecast to be 22-24 degrees Celsius, but outdoors and the actual feeling will be about 2 degrees Celsius lower. Therefore, the actual outdoor temperature in Ho Chi Minh City will sometimes drop to 20 degrees Celsius. In addition, in the southeastern provinces, the temperature will likely drop below 20 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas.

After the unseasonal rain ended on December 15, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecast that Ho Chi Minh City and other southern provinces will have no rain or insignificant light rain in the remaining days of December.

At the end of the year, the temperature drops, the humidity is high, and fine dust suspended in the air easily condenses, forming fog in the early morning. Therefore, experts recommend that people wear more clothes to keep warm when going out, and wear masks to prevent respiratory diseases.
