On September 16, the Provincial Museum organized aneducational activity to experience "Thai xoe art, the art of decorating patterns on traditional costumes of the Mong people".

Attending the event were artisans and extras from Hin village, Chieng An ward, City and Ta So village, Chieng Hac commune, Moc Chau district; officers and soldiers of Regiment 754 (Provincial Military Command) and students of the Provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

The artisans and mass actors brought the unique cultural space of the Thai and Mong ethnic groups right in the premises of the Provincial Museum; introduced the Thai xoe art which has been recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity and the art of decorative patterns on traditional costumes of the Mong ethnic group - a national intangible cultural heritage.

Here, people and tourists can also experience the unique cultural features of the two ethnic groups such as: Thai ethnic cuisine; pounding rice cakes, cooking thang co of the Mong ethnic group and participating in xoe dance, bamboo dance and folk games such as: walking on stilts, playing tu lu, playing dragon hatching eggs; enjoying attractive performances with the unique identity of the ethnic groups. The exciting activities have attracted a large number of students, people in the city, tourists from inside and outside the province to visit, experience and learn about the culture of Son La ethnic groups.


This is an activity organized annually by the Provincial Museum to introduce and widely promote the unique traditional culture of Son La ethnic groups. At the same time, it creates useful experiential and recreational activities for students, contributing to preserving, conserving and promoting the good cultural values of ethnic groups in the province.
