A lamppost malfunction at Hang Day Stadium caused the match between Hanoi and Hai Phong to be temporarily stopped. This happened just before the second half began, causing the match to start 30 minutes later than scheduled.
Players from both sides passed the ball back and forth on the field waiting for officials to resolve the issue. After about 15 minutes, the players returned to the locker room to wait until further notice. The match was suspended for 40 minutes before the second half resumed, and continued with only three working lights.

After the first 45 minutes, Hanoi led 2-1 against Hai Phong . The port city team opened the score in the 3rd minute. From Trieu Viet Hung's difficult header, Pham Xuan Manh, in an attempt to block, kicked the ball into his own net.

This is Hanoi FC's first match of the season. They missed round 1 due to the AFC Champions League 2023/2024 schedule. Meanwhile, Hai Phong FC started the season with a 1-1 draw against HAGL, at Lach Tray home ground.
