On the 11th of August, Quyet Chien drew 40-40 with French player Jeremy Bury in the first match. Then, he defeated Luis Martinez (Colombia) with a close score of 40-38. This result helped the number one Vietnamese player to finish second in the group, along with Jeremy Bury, advancing to the next round, while Martinez was eliminated.
Other players in the quarterfinals include Martin Horn, Cho Myung-woo, Heo Jung-han, Pedro Piedrabuena, Sameh Sidhom and Tayfun Tasdemir. Except for Piedrabuena (USA), all are in the world's Top 14. Notably, world number one Dick Jaspers was unexpectedly eliminated after losing both matches to Heo Jung-han and Piedrabuena.

Vietnam has another representative, female player Phung Kien Tuong, also competing in the 3-cushion carom event. Despite beating Claudia Lalinde but losing to Charlotte Sorensen and Jackeline Perez in the group stage, Kien Tuong still won a ticket to the semi-finals. If she makes it through the semi-finals, she will reach the final and secure a medal; if not, she still has a chance to compete for bronze.
The 2025 World Games, taking place from August 7 to August 17 in Chengdu, will feature about 4,000 athletes competing in 34 sports with 256 events. The events fall into six main categories: dancing & artistic sports , ball sports, martial arts, precision sports, strength sports and trend sports. Vietnam will participate with 26 athletes in 7 sports, including aerobics, beach handball, billiards, petanque, kickboxing, muay Thai and wushu. After 5 days of competition, Vietnam has not won any medals, while 56 delegations have won at least one medal.

The World Games, held every four years by the International World Games Association (IWGA) and sponsored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), is a major playground for non-Olympic sports, except archery. Vietnam has won five gold medals and one silver, ranking 47th in the history of the tournament.
