Bu Lach Grassland: Scenery like in a movie

Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động12/10/2023

3 hours drive from Ho Chi Minh City, Bu Lach grassland is located in Dong Nai commune, Bu Dang district, Binh Phuoc province. This place is hundreds of hectares wide with more than 20 large and small grasslands, with lakes, forests, waterfalls, and unique rapids. The intactness and wildness of nature has helped Bu Lach grassland become an interesting eco- tourism destination.

Many tourists coming to Bu Lach often organize camping, play sports , cook outdoors... and enjoy famous specialties of the M'nong people such as bamboo shoots, leaves, stream fish... I was impressed with grilled bamboo shoots with chili salt, although it has a bitter taste, the more you eat it, the sweeter it becomes.

If you come to Bu Lach grassland on a full moon night, you will witness the M'Nong people hunting fish, then lighting a fire to grill and eat, and dancing and singing. Legend has it that the grasslands are green carpets spread down from the sky for fairies to come down to earth and play on moonlit nights. At the end of the dry season in Bu Lach, the entire grassland turns yellow, but just one rain at the beginning of the season will bring back the lush green color.

The village elders in Dong Nai commune explain that the word "lach" in the M'Nong language means "field", and in the field there is a pond, so the ancients named this place Bau Lach grassland, later people called it Bu Lach. Occasionally, you will see herds of buffalo and cows grazing, making the scene look like a dreamy steppe only seen in movies.

Surrounding the grasslands are villages of the M'Nong, S'tieng and Ma people. Not far from the Bu Lach grasslands are Voi waterfall, which the S'tieng people still call Lieng Rot (meaning the sound of the waterfall), and Standing waterfall, commonly called Nhai Lieng Por (a water trough flowing from a high cliff). This is where the S'tieng villagers give thanks to heaven and earth through rituals celebrating the new rice crop.

Despite its great potential and advantages for tourism development, Bu Lach has not received adequate investment, is still wild, and lacks synchronous infrastructure connections, so it has not attracted many investors and tourists. Mr. Vu Van Muoi, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bu Dang district, expects that the Binh Phuoc Province Tourism Development Project for the period 2022-2025, oriented to 2030 with a total investment of more than 26,000 billion VND will turn this place into an attractive destination that is hard to ignore for tourists.
