Welcoming the WB Vice President for East Asia and Pacific Carlos Felipe Jaramillo and the WB delegation to visit the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Director Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that the cooperation between the Academy and the World Bank in recent times has achieved practical results, has depth and strategic significance, and has made important contributions to the task of improving the quality of training and research of the Academy.
Professor - Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang said that Vietnam's current development requires an increase not only in financial aspects but also in knowledge, management skills, experience, and especially in connection with the global economy . Vietnam is focusing on three strategic breakthroughs, including institutions, infrastructure and human resources.
In terms of institutions, Vietnam has not only overcome difficulties but also created new institutions to promote innovation, develop a circular economy, green growth and equitable energy transition. In terms of infrastructure, the requirements do not stop at traditional economic infrastructure such as transportation and energy, but also extend to social infrastructure, technology and the construction of data centers.
In particular, regarding human resource development, Professor - Doctor Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that human resources are not only based on quantity but also on quality and must be trained, not untrained, and must be trained according to practical requirements and development needs.
Professor - Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that the WB continue to support Vietnam in taking advantage of global knowledge and experience to address major challenges such as climate change, water resource management in the Mekong Delta and ecological agriculture development. The two sides continue to increase the exchange of experts participating in strategic-level staff training programs, and coordinate in building and introducing forums around the Vietnam 2045 Report.
Expressing his deep impression of Vietnam's strong development and reform achievements, such as merging and reducing the number of provinces, cities, ministries and sectors and speeding up administrative procedures, WB Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific Carlos Felipe Jaramillo highly appreciated Vietnam's development experience, especially the Vietnam 2035 Report that the WB has used as a reference for many other countries.

Mr. Carlos Felipe Jaramillo said that Vietnam has recently reduced its demand for loans, but emphasized that the role of the WB is not only as a loan sponsor but also as a source of knowledge, experience and technical support. He suggested that Vietnam and the WB should focus on two areas in which the WB can contribute, which are human resources and support in mobilizing finance for complex and difficult projects such as high-speed railways, urban infrastructure, or support in responding to vulnerability to climate change.
WB Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific Carlos Felipe Jaramillo also expressed his wish that the WB would participate in supporting Vietnam in transforming its modern education system to meet new trends such as artificial intelligence and automation; affirming that the WB will continue to closely coordinate and strengthen in-depth cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to spread management knowledge and policy making to agencies in the political system.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation in research, policy consultation, staff training and organization of international seminars and conferences in the coming time.
