Opportunity for Vietnamese education to make a breakthrough
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Council of Hanoi Capital University, said: In Vietnam, in the context of strong digital transformation, on August 22, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TU on breakthroughs in education and training development.
The resolution affirms that education and training are not only the top national policy but also the decisive factor in the destiny and future of the nation. This is a major turning point in awareness and action, demonstrating the Party's deep concern for the cause of educating people.
In the Resolution, the Politburo clearly pointed out strategic directions for fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education. One of the important highlights is to promote comprehensive digital transformation, applying digital technology and artificial intelligence in education.
This is an urgent task, and at the same time an opportunity for Vietnamese education to make a breakthrough, improve quality, ensure fairness in access and open the door to international integration.
Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh - Director of the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences - said that popularizing artificial intelligence in general education is not only a technological trend but also a strategic requirement for countries in the 21st century.
Analysis of Vietnam's journey over the past time shows that the combination of practical research, capacity building, promulgation of guidelines, and preparation of long-term strategies have created an important foundation for implementing AI education at the general education level.
International experience shows that, to effectively integrate AI, education systems need a clear policy vision, linked to a phased implementation roadmap; curricula and learning materials appropriate to each level of education, ensuring updates and applicability; a mechanism for continuous teacher training and development, linked to competency standards; and a cooperative ecosystem between the state, localities, educational institutions and technology enterprises.
For Vietnam, these lessons show the need to continue to invest synchronously in three key pillars: improving the digital and AI capacity of teachers; developing diverse, safe and friendly curricula, learning materials and teaching support tools; and building monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure that AI application takes place effectively, fairly and responsibly.
If successfully implemented, AI education in general education will not only equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills in the digital age, but also contribute to forming creative, humane citizens who are ready to contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

Realizing Resolution 71
Resolution 71-NQ/TW not only sets goals, but also clearly defines orientations and solutions for education development. In particular, the major orientations are the compass, opening up a long-term vision, aiming to build a modern, integrated, equitable and high-quality education system, contributing to making Vietnam a developed country by 2045.
Dr. Vu Hai Nam, lecturer at the University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) affirmed: Innovation in general education cannot be separated from digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence. AI helps lectures become more vivid, meeting the requirements of innovation in testing and assessment in the direction of capacity development, helping students apply knowledge to practice instead of just memorizing theory.
Mr. Nam believes that AI also contributes to the formation of digital capacity, critical thinking and practical research ability - core capacities proposed by the 2018 General Education Program. In the era of open education, each teacher and school needs to become a center of innovation, proactively adapting and creating the future of digital education.
Emphasizing the importance of Resolution 71 in guiding the development of the education and training sector in the coming period, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong affirmed that the Hanoi education and training sector is determined to build an open, flexible, integrated education system, strongly applying technology to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning, towards international standards, contributing to the digital transformation process of the capital's education sector.
Mr. Tran The Cuong informed that to anticipate the development trend of artificial intelligence, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training cooperated with Google to train 100,000 teachers according to global standards; build a centralized data platform and replicate the "Google Digital School" model; focus on supporting students with learning devices.
To achieve this goal, in the 2025-2026 school year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will focus on improving digital capacity for teachers and students; promoting investment in building smart and modern technical infrastructure and replicating digital school models, and enhancing the application of artificial intelligence.
Recalling the slogan of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training as “training students who are good at professional skills, good at foreign languages, good at IT, good at communication skills”, Mr. Tran The Cuong said that to train good students, there must be a team of good teachers. Therefore, opening training classes, equipping knowledge, and sending teachers for training are the contents that the Department's leaders pay special attention to and implement.
The rapid development of artificial intelligence is opening up many new opportunities in innovation in teaching methods, assessment and education management. However, this also places very high demands on the teaching staff in terms of professional capacity, technological level, adaptability and innovation.
“Approaching, mastering and effectively applying artificial intelligence in teaching and management is an important content. The courses gradually equip teachers with a system of knowledge and skills about AI, contributing to the goal: Each teacher is a digital citizen, each classroom is a digital educational environment,” Mr. Tran The Cuong emphasized.
