Deploying construction of 500kV power line project worth more than 7,400 billion VND

ANTD.VN - On March 3, 2025, Vietnam Electricity Group and Power Project Management Board 1 held a ceremony to launch the construction of the 500KV transmission line worth more than VND 7,400 billion Lao Cai - Vinh Yen, the section passing through Yen Bai province.

The Lao Cai – Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project is a national key project that has been approved for investment by the Prime Minister . This is a 500kV double-circuit transmission line with a total length of 229.5km, with a total of 468 pole foundation locations.

The project passes through 04 provinces: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc with the starting point being Lao Cai 500kV station and the ending point being Vinh Yen 500kV station.

The total investment of the project is more than 7,410 billion VND, arranged from 80% loan capital from the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) and 20% counterpart capital from EVN (before tax).

Once put into operation, the line will release about 2,000 MW from hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces to the national grid and increase the ability to import electricity.

At the same time, it creates strong connections between areas in the power system; improves the ability to operate safely and stably for the national power system; reduces power loss in the transmission grid; and increases the efficiency of EVN's electricity production and business.

The section passing through Yen Bai province alone is 90.06km long, with 173 pole foundation locations ( from VT102 to VT274), passing through 2 districts: Luc Yen and Yen Binh. The project contributes to ensuring energy sources for the province's medium and long-term development goals, increasing budget revenue, and creating job opportunities for local businesses and workers.

Investor representative in charge of project management and operation: Power Project Management Board 1;

Total investment: More than 7,410 billion VND;

The project area passes through: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc;

Construction implementation: March 2025;

Expected completion: Before September 2, 2025.
