Exhibition of photos about Hanoi and sculptures from Hanoi in the same space in Da Lat - Photo: MV
On May 16, the "Dalat and Beyond" 2025 event opened at the Arts Palace (Ly Tu Trong Street, Da Lat), marking the third year of the large-scale annual cultural and artistic project, implemented by the Da Lat City People's Committee in coordination with wards, artists and art organizations.
The photo series "Hanoi and its cries" taken in the early 20th century is the highlight of the series of activities at the Arts Palace this year, lasting from May 2025 to May 2026.
The exhibition contributes to affirming Da Lat's position as a Creative City of Music recognized by UNESCO.
The highlight is the rare photo collection "Hanoi and its cries", depicting old Hanoi life through the lenses of French photographers in the early 20th century.
The photos recreate the typical street cries and activities in the old town, evoking the simple beauty of a city that is forming its identity.
The exhibition is a reminder of the depth of Vietnamese urban culture, while opening up a visual dialogue between ancient Hanoi and present-day Da Lat - two cities with a rich architectural heritage.
During the opening ceremony, nearly 20 K'Ho and Cil artists from Dung K'No (Lac Duong) performed gongs, gourd trumpets and traditional drums. These artists will continue to participate in the Central Highlands Gong Festival scheduled to be held at the end of the year.
The contemporary sculpture exhibition at the event featured 31 works by students from the Hanoi University of Architecture, using materials such as stainless steel, iron, and steel. These creations not only created a strong visual impression, but also reflected the spirit of innovation and creativity among young people.
The event continues with a year-long series of activities, including an outdoor painting exhibition, a street fashion show with the theme "Flowers and Heritage", and in-depth discussions on cultural industries and green tourism development.
Dalat Art Street is a project organized by Dalat City People's Committee in collaboration with Stop And Go Art Space.
The Art Street is not only an annual event but is also gradually becoming a cultural brand of Da Lat, contributing to raising Da Lat's position on the regional and international art map.
