Dismantling a production and trading ring of nearly 38,000 bottles of fake bird's nest drink

On the evening of September 11, the Economic Police Department - Da Nang City Police informed that it had just issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and execute the Order of temporary detention against Nguyen Thanh Truong (born in 1989), residing in An Bien ward, Hai Phong city and Nguyen Ngoc Chau (born in 1987), residing in Da Nang city, to investigate and clarify the act of "Producing and trading in counterfeit food products".

According to investigation documents, in 2023 and 2024, Nguyen Thanh Truong went from Hai Phong to Da Nang and established two companies specializing in the production and trading of fake bird's nest jars. To conceal his actions, Truong asked Nguyen Ngoc Chau and Chau's sister to register and act as legal representatives for these companies. However, in reality, all production and business activities were directly managed and operated by Truong.

In early 2024, Nguyen Thanh Truong purchased, equipped machinery, equipment and established a factory to produce bird's nest with headquarters in Dien Ban Dong ward, Da Nang city. During the production process, instead of using real bird's nest ingredients, Truong directed Nguyen Ngoc Chau to research and create fake "bird's nest fibers" that looked exactly like real bird's nest. The entire production process, from mixing ingredients, pouring bird's nest into jars, labeling, packaging... were all directly carried out by these two subjects.

From January 2024 to mid-June 2025, some shipments were still produced by Truong's companies using real bird's nests, but the quantity was very small. From June 24, 2025, Truong instructed his subordinates not to use real bird's nests as raw materials anymore, but all raw materials were fake. After completion, these fake bird's nest products were widely distributed to retail stores in Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong...

Conducting a search of the production workshop of Vannest Company Limited (located in Dien Duong Residential Area and Market, Dien Ban Dong Ward, Da Nang City), the Police seized nearly 38,000 bottles of finished bird's nest drinks of 15 different types. The results of the examination of the 15 types of bird's nest above, 5 types of bird's nest drinks did not contain Sialic Acid (the main nutritional component of bird's nest), the remaining 10 types had Sialic Acid content of only 1% compared to the normal quality requirements.
