Trieu Phong: Central landfills are overloaded, risk of garbage accumulation in villages

The central landfill of Trieu Phong district was built around the end of 2013, including 2 landfill cells with a surface area of 4,350 m2 each. Currently, landfill cell No. 1 is being closed; according to the design, the amount of excess waste from landfill cell No. 1 transferred to landfill cell No. 2 is more than 4,861 tons (more than 11,000 m3 ).

However, the current situation of garbage in landfill cell No. 2 is also overloaded. According to regulations, the height of the garbage layer has exceeded the regulation of 3 m due to having to receive the amount of garbage accumulated from landfill cell No. 1. This leads to the situation that landfill cell No. 2 cannot receive any more.

Faced with this urgent situation, the Center for Environment and Urban Areas proposed that the People's Committee of Trieu Phong district soon approve the investment policy to build landfill cell No. 3 and close landfill cell No. 2 at the central landfill to effectively handle waste throughout the district, ensuring the environment.
