Peach trees are growing strongly in Cam Hung commune, Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh). Thanks to the innovation in thinking about developing peach cultivation combined with experiential tourism , many households here have escaped poverty and have a prosperous life.

Peach tree changes difficult land

Previously, Hung Thang village, Cam Hung commune was known as a purely agricultural area, life was still difficult, people mainly grew wet rice. Thanks to the conversion to growing peach blossoms for Tet, people's lives have been increasingly improved.

Mr. Dang Huu Thai, residing in Hung Thang village, Cam Xuyen, said: "Previously, I used to grow cassava and tea on the entire garden land, which had low income. As a lover of ornamental plants, I researched a number of places. With the increasing demand for peach blossoms for Tet, I bought seeds and planted a few trees. I found that the peach trees grew well and bloomed right on Tet, so I started to expand them."

"I tried planting some peach varieties, but only the traditional peach variety is suitable for the soil in this area. The peach variety has large flowers, many petals, long-lasting flowers, and is popular with many people. Last year, my family sold 130 peach trees. This year, out of 300 trees, it is expected that 200 trees will be sold. Depending on the size, shape of each tree and the age, the selling price ranges from 500,000 - 2,000,000 VND/tree, bringing in an income of 100 - 120 million VND", Mr. Dang Huu Thai revealed.

According to Mr. Dang Huu Thai, to have beautiful peach trees, care must be taken all year round, the busiest period is the last 3 months of the year. At this time, peach growers must monitor the weather, apply many care measures, strip old leaves, block roots, prune dry branches, diseased branches, excess branches, water to keep moist, to help the peach tree have a beautiful shape, bloom in time for Tet.

As a pioneer in bringing peach blossom trees to the locality, Mr. Ha Van Vinh, residing in Hung Thang village, Cam Hung commune, has become the household with the largest peach tree growing scale with over 350 trees. This year's Tet season, Mr. Vinh's family sold about 200 trees to the market, with an average price of about 1-2 million VND/tree, many trees costing up to 3-4 million VND. Currently, many trees have been placed deposits by traders and many individual customers.

According to Mr. Ha Van Vinh, peach growing techniques are not too difficult but require meticulousness. In addition to annually improving the soil with decomposed manure, limiting the use of inorganic fertilizers to keep the soil healthy and meet the nutritional needs of the plants. In particular, growers need to understand the technical steps, pruning, creating beautiful shapes for peach trees, and taking care to ensure the peach blossoms bloom in time for Tet.

Peach blossom brand, becomes Cam Xuyen experiential tourism brand

In addition to growing ornamental peach blossoms to serve the needs of people playing with flowers and ornamental plants during Tet. In recent years, realizing the potential for tourism development from peach blossoms, some households have integrated experiential tourism activities, attracting tourists to check in, experience, enjoy the Tet atmosphere and learn about tree care techniques.
