On June 4 and 5, the test train departed from Hekou Bei Station, Hekou County, Yunnan Province, bordering Lao Cai Province, Vietnam, to Dali and Yangbi Stations, in the west of Yunnan Province.
Train C4214 departs from Hekou Bei Station at 15:25, arrives at Dali Station at 22:37 and ends its journey at Yangbi Station at 23:03 without changing trains.
This is considered a move to meet the increasing travel demand of Vietnamese tourists who want to visit famous tourist areas in the west of Yunnan province such as Dali and Lijiang, according to the China Railway Kunming Company.
The train makes rail travel more convenient between Hekou and points in the west of Yunnan Province, reducing travel time for Vietnamese tourists. After entering China through the Hekou border gate, passengers board the train at Hekou Bei Station and arrive in Dali on the same day. The journey is convenient, a representative of the Railway Company said.
The company said it will flexibly adjust ship operations based on future inbound passenger traffic.
At the end of May, the Vietnam - China international passenger train resumed operation after more than 5 years of interruption due to Covid-19. The train departed from Gia Lam station ( Hanoi ) to Dong Dang station (Lang Son), then from Bang Tuong station to Nanning station (Guangxi, China) and vice versa.
The connecting train from Nanning to Beijing also operates from May 27. From Nanning station, passengers can also transfer to other domestic trains to go to major cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen or transfer to a third country at international stations in China. The ticket price for the Hanoi - Nanning route is 1 million VND one way, the Hanoi - Beijing route is nearly 9.4 million VND one way.
