On November 14, Xinhua News Agency quoted information from the Chinese Ministry of Natural Resources as saying that the country had successfully explored the Dadonggou gold mine in Liaoning province. This was identified as a super-large low-grade gold mine, with reserves reaching the level of thousands of tons.
Specifically, according to the Dai Dong Cau gold mine exploration report, the entire gold mine area (from an altitude of 720 meters below zero) contains 2.586 billion tons of gold ore, with gold metal reserves reaching 1,444.49 tons, with an average content of 0.56g / ton.
This figure makes Dadonggou the largest single gold mine since the founding of China.
The ore body is distributed at an altitude from minus 913.06m to 115.08m, with a maximum vertical length of 3,128m, a maximum slope depth of 1,250m, an average thickness of 263.35m, and the thickest point reaching 513.49m.
The Dadonggou Gold Mine is located in the border area between Qingshiling Town (Caizhou City) and Boluopu Town (Dashiqiao City), Liaoning Province. The clue about this gold mine was first discovered by the 5th Team Company (under the Liaoning Mineral Group) in 1983.
In 2009 and 2015, the Dai Dong Cau gold mine project carried out two preliminary exploration rounds, conducting geological, geochemical, geophysical, trenching, drilling and sampling work.
In 2024, Liaoning Mineral Group decided to carry out a "major campaign", innovate methods, apply the "integrated preliminary - detailed exploration" survey model and mobilize 18 units to participate.
During this mine survey, scientists successfully installed frequency converter equipment for the first time in the shale area and comprehensively applied 3D modeling technology to demonstrate the existence status of the ore body.
After 15 months of survey, the gold mine exploration report was completed, opening a precedent for "short-cycle, high-quality" gold mine exploration in China.
In September this year, Mr. Xu Daichun, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Director of the China Geological Survey, revealed that the preliminary gold reserves of the Dadonggou mine are nearly 1,500 tons, expected to become another world-class gold mine in China, after the Jiaodong gold mine (Shandong province).
The successful exploration of Dai Dong Cau gold mine is considered to have important significance in consolidating the national strategic gold reserves, opening up a new approach for mineral exploration in deep and peripheral areas of existing mines, and at the same time adding theoretical basis for research on gold mine formation.
The project is expected to contribute to building Liaodong into a world-class gold industrial center, serving the goal of comprehensively revitalizing the Northeast region of China.
