School accused of spending nearly 200 million VND wrongly, teacher asked to "remove" online post

(Dan Tri) - An elementary school in Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa province was "accused" of spending nearly 200 million VND from the parent fund to purchase facilities, equipment and rewards for students and teachers.

In recent days, Facebook has been spreading information that Hai Thanh A Primary School, Hai Thanh Ward, Nghi Son Town, Thanh Hoa Province, spent nearly 200 million VND from parent funds in violation of regulations.

According to the report, in the 2024-2025 school year, the school used parent funds to buy tables, chairs, drums, install electrical systems, replace window glass, tile the stage, repair the plumbing system, buy water tanks... with a total amount of more than 103 million VND.

In addition, the parent fund also spent 81 million VND on expenses such as: buying tea to entertain guests at the Parent Executive Committee meeting, supporting excellent students to take exams, paying bonuses, giving Tet gifts to staff and teachers...

Nghi Son Town Departmentof Education and Training has stepped in to inspect and clarify the information reflected on social networks.

The results of verifying the records kept at the school show that the above expenses were made from the education sponsorship fund. The sponsorship was planned by the school, proposing items for purchasing and repairing facilities and approved by the People's Committee of Hai Thanh Ward and the Department of Education and Training of Nghi Son Town.

After raising more than 103 million VND, the school has carried out a number of items according to plan and has full exhibits, documents, and records stored at the school according to regulations. Therefore, the content reflected on social networks is inaccurate.

Regarding the expenditure of more than VND 81 million from the parent fund, the verification results show that the Parents' Representative Board has developed an action plan for the 2024-2025 school year, mobilized funds and made expenditures after discussing and agreeing with the school and parents of the classes.

The report also stated that, in response to the information circulating on social networks, Mr. NVS (a school teacher) proactively texted and offered to negotiate payment to "remove" the Facebook post. Through verification, the authorities determined that this action was done by Mr. S. himself, without any instigation.

Nghi Son Town Department of Education and Training requested Hai Thanh A Primary School to encourage the spirit of the school's cadres, teachers and staff; continue to strengthen coordination with parents in student education.

The school is also required to summarize the work, organize the year-end summary, hand over students to their hometowns for summer vacation and develop directions and tasks for the 2025-2026 school year. In addition, it is necessary to review and compile statistics on the current status of facilities to report to the People's Committee of Hai Thanh Ward for appraisal and develop a supplementary plan for the new school year.

The Department of Education and Training of Nghi Son town also requested the school to organize a review meeting to draw lessons for Mr. NVS, because he had arbitrarily texted the person who posted the information on social networks without discussing and agreeing within the school.
