Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry announces new admission method

On the morning of May 21, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry officially announced full-time university enrollment in 2025 with notable changes in admission methods.

4 admission methods

In 2025, the school will enroll students nationwide at its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City and its Quang Ngai branch with a total enrollment target of more than 10,300 students (of which more than 10,000 will be in Ho Chi Minh City) for 64 undergraduate majors/specializations.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry - said: "This year, the school adjusted the admission method, in which for the first time the school used the results of high school study in grade 12 combined with outstanding achievements (if any).

This adjustment is based on the general principle of creating favorable conditions and maximum opportunities for candidates, ensuring fairness, publicity and transparency."

The school enrolls students according to 4 admission methods, specifically:

Method 1: Direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Method 2: Admission using the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025.

Method 3: Admission using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam.

Method 4: Admission using high school academic results in grade 12 combined with outstanding achievements (if any).

The school notes that candidates with outstanding achievements are those in the following categories (bonus points for candidates with outstanding achievements, see here):

+ Students of specialized schools/gifted schools/schools with specialized classes;

+ Students from high schools with good quality;

+ Students from top high schools that have signed cooperation agreements with Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry;

+ Students who won prizes in the provincial/municipal cultural subject selection exam (the prize-winning subject is included in the admission combination of the admission industry);

+ Students who won prizes in the Olympic exams in cultural subjects (the prize-winning subjects are included in the admission combination of the admission industry);

+ Students who won prizes in provincial/municipal science and technology competitions (winning subjects/winning topics belong to the field of the admission industry);

+ Students with excellent academic performance in grades 10, 11, and 12;

+ Students with other outstanding achievements (recognized by organizations);

According to the list of specialized schools of the Ministry of Education and Training, there are nearly 70 schools, about 400 schools with good quality and about 200 schools with signed cooperation agreements.

"Thus, candidates from nearly 500 high schools who register for admission to our school under method 4 will receive extra points (look up the list of schools at https://tuyensinh.iuh.edu.vn/).

If a candidate belongs to multiple categories, only the highest priority category will be counted. And the total score (including regional priority and category priority points) will not exceed 3 points (on a 30-point scale).

For method 3 and method 4: candidates can use English certificates to convert into English subject scores in the admission combination," Mr. Nhan added.

Admission threshold of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry

The school has also announced the application threshold at its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City:

Threshold for receiving application documents using the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025:

+ For regular university programs: the threshold to ensure input quality for all majors has a minimum total score of 650 points (without coefficient; priority points have not been added and do not apply to the law group).

+ For regular universities with English enhancement programs: the threshold to ensure input quality for all majors has a total score of at least 600 points (without coefficient; priority points have not been added and do not apply to the law major group).

+ Law group: the threshold to ensure input quality is a total score of at least 720 points, while the Vietnamese component score is at least 180 points and the mathematics component score is at least 180 points.

The threshold for receiving application documents for admission is based on the 12th grade high school academic results combined with outstanding achievements (if any): the total score of 3 subjects (without coefficient; not including priority points, bonus points) in the admission combination is at least 21 points.

+ For the law group: the minimum math admission score is 6.0 points and the minimum literature admission score is 6.0 points.

+ For pharmacy: the threshold for receiving applications is the total score of 3 subjects in the admission group of at least 24 points and having a good grade 12 academic performance.

The threshold for receiving admission applications uses the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam. The school will announce the admission threshold score after the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam from the Ministry of Education and Training are available.

Application threshold at Quang Ngai branch:

Using the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025: minimum of 600 points (without coefficient; priority points not included).

Using the 12th grade high school academic results combined with outstanding achievements (if any): the threshold for receiving applications is the total score of 3 subjects (without coefficient; not including priority points, bonus points) in the admission combination, at least equal to 19 points.

Using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam: the school will announce after the results of the high school graduation exam are available.

Students studying at Quang Ngai branch receive a 50% tuition discount and enjoy all benefits like students at the main campus.

Candidates can choose their own subject combinations for admission.

In particular, this year the school added many more subject combinations for admission to suit the 2018 general education program.

Accordingly, the school's admission subject groups include 3 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects and 1 elective subject (candidates can choose 1 from the group of subjects).

Group TC1 subjects: literature, English, chemistry, industrial technology, information technology, economic and legal education.

Group of TC2 subjects: physics, chemistry, information technology, English, industrial technology.

Group of TC3 subjects: physics, biology, literature, industrial technology, English.

Group of subjects TC4: English, chemistry, biology, agricultural technology, economic and legal education.

Group of TC5 subjects: physics, chemistry, literature, English, agricultural technology, economic and legal education.

Group of subjects TC6: English, physics, geography, history, economic education - law, information technology.

Group of subjects TC7: literature, physics, geography, history, economic education - law, information technology.

Group of subjects TC8: math, history, geography, economic education - law.

Group of subjects TC9: math, geography, economic - legal education, English.

TC10 subject group: literature, geography, history, economic and legal education.

Subject group TC11: literature, English, history, physics, biology.

Registration procedure and time for receiving pre-selection documents

Candidates applying for admission to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry must register their wishes on the Ministry of Education and Training's information portal or through the national public service portal according to the general plan (choose the school's admission code as IUH).

In addition to registering on the ministry's admission portal, candidates need to submit additional application documents to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry if using the following methods:

- Direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, submit application before 5:00 p.m. on June 30. Candidates submit application to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, application form according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

- Admission is based on 12th grade high school academic results combined with outstanding achievements (if any).

- Convert foreign language certificates into admission scores. Direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Admission uses high school study results in grade 12 combined with outstanding achievements (if any), submit application before 5:00 p.m. on July 5.

Candidates using foreign language certificates converted to English subject, submit application before 5:00 p.m. on July 5.
