On November 4, in Yen Bai province, Regiment 921, Division 371, Air Defense - Air Force (PK-KQ) solemnly held a ceremony to posthumously award the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to martyr Dong Van De, former Flight Platoon Leader, Company 1. Attending the ceremony were representatives of the leadership of Division 371, Regiment 921 and relatives of martyr Dong Van De.
Martyr Dong Van De was born in 1940, from Tan Hao commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province, enlisted in February 1959, and died in 1967. Martyr Dong Van De was an excellent pilot. During the fierce years of the resistance war against the US, he was intelligent, brave, actively participated in combat and directly commanded the Flight Platoon to carry out combat readiness missions and fought successfully, successfully completing the missions assigned by his superiors.
During the battle, he shot down two F-105s of the US Empire. On January 6, 1967, he and his squadron fought against eight enemy F-4s and heroically sacrificed themselves in the northern sky of the country. His achievements in combat and sacrifice have become a shining example of bravery and determination to fight for generations of Air Defense and Air Force officers and soldiers to follow.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Tu, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Regiment 921, emphasized that Comrade Dong Van De is a shining example of bravery, determination to fight, decisiveness and strategy in command, and together with his comrades and teammates, he successfully completed the assigned tasks with the spirit of going to war to win, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh "opening a victorious air front", thereby contributing significantly to embellishing the tradition of the heroic Sao Do Air Force.
Setting an example and continuing the wishes of martyr Dong Van De, the officers and soldiers of Regiment 921 will continue to promote the tradition of patriotism, absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; the revolutionary will to attack, the spirit of determination to fight and win... In any conditions and circumstances, the officers and soldiers of Regiment 921 always accept and complete well the assigned tasks, actively study and train in all aspects, master modern weapons and equipment, master the sky, and never be passive or surprised in any situation. In addition, they are determined to build a strong and clean Party organization, a strong and clean Regiment "a typical model", excellently completing the tasks assigned by the Party, Uncle Ho and the people, worthy of the tradition of the heroic unit of the People's Armed Forces.
