Two young men broke their penises while they were erect, causing severe pain, swelling, and deformity and requiring emergency medical care.

On February 21, information from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital said that the hospital's doctors had just received two patients, NVT (17 years old) and NTH (27 years old), who came to the hospital with swollen, purple-black, deformed, and painful penises.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Thao - Andrology Center, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital said that after examination and necessary tests, the patient was diagnosed with a penile fracture and underwent immediate surgery. This is an emergency in andrology.

The patient underwent emergency surgery to clean the hematoma and restore the sutures. Fortunately, both patients were hospitalized and treated promptly, helping the treatment process go smoothly and their functions recover well.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Thao examined and talked with a 27-year-old male patient after receiving emergency treatment for his 'little guy'.

Dr. Thao added that penile fractures are often caused by incorrect sexual positions, and self-fracture is less common. For patients who self-fracture, the cause is often due to an erection in the early morning. The patient tries to reduce this condition but uses too much force, leading to serious injury.

If not treated promptly, trauma can cause fibrous tissue formation, deformation of the penis, erectile dysfunction, and the ability to have sex later on.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quang, Director of the Andrology Center - Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, said that the Andrology Center regularly provides emergency care and treatment for patients with male diseases, of which penile fracture is a common emergency. Early emergency care and treatment help improve recovery and reduce the risk of future complications.

Doctors recommend that men should not have rough impacts on their 'little guy' when it is erect. Arbitrarily or habitually bending the penis can lead to microscopic damage, long-term formation of fibrous tissue that deforms the penis, in severe cases, bending the penis can cause penile fracture, greatly affecting the health and quality of life of the patient's family.
