Provincial armed forces - a reliable support of the Party Committee, government and people of Bac Kan

80 years ago, implementing the policy of the Party Central Committee and the Directive of President Ho Chi Minh, on December 22, 1944, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army - the first main force, the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army was established in the forest between Hoang Hoa Tham and Tran Hung Dao communes in Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province (now Na Sang hamlet, Tam Kim commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province). This was a great historical event of the Vietnamese revolution. Born and developed on the basis of the Party's revolutionary armed forces, the Vietnam People's Army is a new type of army organized, led, educated and trained by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, with a working class nature, a deep national character and a people's character, with the goal of fighting for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism, and for the happiness of the people. With that meaning, December 22 every year has become the traditional day of the Vietnam People's Army.

Over the past 80 years, under the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Party, with the love, protection and support of the People, inheriting and promoting the patriotism and military art of the Vietnamese people, overcoming countless hardships and challenges, the Vietnam People's Army has, together with the entire people, achieved great victories in the cause of national liberation, defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam and fulfilling glorious international obligations.

From the first victories of Phai Khat, Na Ngan, Viet Bac campaign, Border campaign (1950) to the strategic offensive of Dong Xuan 1953 - 1954, the climax of which was the decisive strategic battle of Dien Bien Phu "famous in five continents, shaking the earth", smashing the domination of old colonialism, opening a new revolutionary stage, bringing the North to socialism, creating a solid rear to carry out the people's national democratic revolution in the South. From the victories of Ap Bac, Binh Gia, Dong Xoai, Ba Gia, Nui Thanh, Van Tuong, Playme; From the 1968 Mau Than campaign, Route 9 - Southern Laos, "Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air" to the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, our Army under the leadership of the Party together with the entire people achieved brilliant feats of arms, completed the people's national democratic revolution, unified the Fatherland, and led the whole country to socialism.

During the period of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam, the People's Army has always been the core force, together with the entire people, to maintain the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland; to protect the Party, the State, the People, the achievements of the revolution and the socialist regime, and to maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national development. The People's Army has always upheld the spirit of revolutionary vigilance, crushed all plots and acts of violating the sovereignty of the Fatherland's borders, seas and islands; creatively and effectively implemented socio-economic development programs, built economic-defense zones, and projects of strategic significance to the country.

The army actively participates in gratitude movements, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, new rural construction; building safe areas, building political systems and grassroots cultural life, especially in key areas, remote areas, ethnic minority areas and border and island areas, making an important contribution to the cause of consolidating and strengthening the great national unity bloc, strengthening the "people's hearts" position, potential and posture of the entire people's national defense. The army is always the leading force in the work of preventing and fighting natural disasters, searching, rescuing, dealing with the consequences of war and implementing the army's rear policy well.

After 80 years of fighting, building and growing, facing many harsh challenges, especially before the turning points of the revolution, the Vietnam People's Army has always shown the mettle of a revolutionary army, born from the people, fighting for the people; a special political force, a fighting force absolutely loyal and trustworthy to the Party, State and People.

Promoting tradition, enhancing overall strength

During the process of formation, construction and development, the provincial military has always been under the direct leadership in all aspects.

Along with the strong emergence of the armed forces of the whole country, on April 13, 1947, at Doc Lap hill, Bac Kan town (now Bac Kan city), the Bac Kan Provincial Militia Command, now the Provincial Military Command, was established. This was an important turning point for the development of the provincial armed forces. Immediately after its establishment, the Bac Kan Provincial Militia Command immediately began to consolidate and organize the force.

During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, Bac Kan faced many difficulties and challenges when it had to stabilize production, provide manpower and resources for the frontline, and carry out the task of suppressing bandits, ensuring the vital route No. 3 - the main route to support the border battlefield. After the country was reunified, the provincial armed forces, together with the people, quickly focused on overcoming the consequences of war, restoring the economy, and consolidating and building forces. Actively and proactively advising local Party committees and authorities to effectively implement local military and defense work. Building defense zones, the national defense posture associated with the people's security posture and the people's hearts posture are increasingly solid. 100% of the officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces have strong political will, ready to receive and excellently complete all assigned tasks.

In the prevention of natural disasters, storms, floods, and epidemics, cadres and soldiers do not fear difficulties and hardships, volunteering on the front lines, and are trusted and loved by local Party committees, authorities, and people. Throughout the process of formation, construction, and development, with great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the homeland and nation, the provincial armed forces have always been under the direct and comprehensive leadership of the provincial Party Committee.

Faced with the requirements and tasks in the new situation, the Bac Kan armed forces need to promote their traditions, while also constantly improving their overall quality, level and high combat readiness, meeting the requirements and tasks of protecting the locality and the Fatherland. In organizing and implementing, the Military Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command always focus on leading and directing the building of a politically strong armed force, considering this a key issue, a decisive factor, ensuring that the armed forces are truly a loyal and trustworthy force of the Party Committee, the government and the people.

Colonel La Van Hao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command said that with the close attention and direction of the Military Region, the provincial leaders, the joint efforts of departments and branches, and the support of the people, the overall quality and combat strength of the provincial armed forces have been improved. This is the basis for the provincial armed forces to ensure sufficient capacity and strength to maintain political security and social order and safety in the province./.
