Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the death of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Huu Duc

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, representatives of sectors and localities and a large number of people respectfully bowed to offer incense and flowers, commemorating the spirit of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Huu Duc, who devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause, contributing to the victory of the cause of national liberation and nation building. The delegates also reviewed the achievements in the revolutionary activities of the Deputy Prime Minister for the next generation to learn and follow, especially the young generation.

Comrade Tran Huu Duc was born on January 15, 1910, in a poor peasant family in Duong Le Dong village, Trieu Thuan commune, Trieu Phong district. He became enlightened and participated in revolutionary activities in 1925 when he was only 15 years old and became a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1929. Comrade Tran Huu Duc was assigned many important responsibilities by the Party and the State such as: Deputy Head of the State Planning Committee, Head of the Central Rural Work Committee, Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, General Secretary of the Government Council and Head of the Government's Internal Affairs Committee; Secretary of the Tri Thien - Hue Regional Party Committee; First Secretary of the Central Agencies Inter-branch (now the Party Committee of the Central Agencies Bloc); Deputy Prime Minister, Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy ; Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam from the first to the fourth term; National Assembly Delegate from the first to the seventh term. No matter how difficult the circumstances, in any position or field of work, comrade Tran Huu Duc always excellently completed the tasks entrusted by the Party and the people.

Comrade Tran Huu Duc's entire life and career set a shining example of revolutionary ethics. With his great merits and contributions, Comrade Tran Huu Duc was awarded the Gold Star Order, the Ho Chi Minh Order and many other noble awards by the Party and the State. Comrade Tran Huu Duc's life and revolutionary career are the pride of our Party and people in general as well as the Party Committee and people of Quang Tri in particular. The late General Vo Nguyen Giap once wrote: "Comrade Tran Huu Duc is a communist party member who wholeheartedly serves the people and the Fatherland, setting an example of steadfastness, indomitability, thrift, integrity and honesty."

Comrade Tran Huu Duc passed away on August 21, 1993, at the age of 83. The eulogy of the Party Central Committee stated: “During over 60 years of active revolutionary activities, no matter how difficult the circumstances, no matter what tasks he was assigned, Comrade Tran Huu Duc was always wholeheartedly devoted to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the people, regardless of hardships and sacrifices, upholding the indomitable and resilient tradition of a communist party member, always standing at the forefront of the heroic struggle of our Party and people. Comrade Tran Huu Duc was a veteran revolutionary belonging to the first generation of the Vietnamese revolution led by our Party, who devoted his whole life to activities, tirelessly working for the cause of the Party and the people, making worthy contributions to the victory of the cause of national liberation and the construction of the homeland and country”./.
