Vietnam futsal team falls into an extremely easy group in the Asian qualifiers

On the afternoon of June 22, AFC conducted the draw and scheduled the qualifying round of the 2024 Asian futsal tournament.

Ranked in group 1, the draw results put Vietnam in a fairly favorable group with the participation of Korea, Nepal and host Mongolia.

Among the three opponents in the same group, the biggest obstacle for the Vietnamese team is considered to be Korea.

However, at the 2022 Asian futsal tournament, the red team was in the same group with this opponent and won convincingly 5-1, thereby joining Japan in the quarter-finals.

With their current strength, coach Giustozzi Diego Raul and his team can completely aim for the number 1 position in the race in this group.

There are a total of 31 teams participating in the 2024 Asian Futsal Qualifiers and they are divided into 8 groups (1 group of 3 teams, 7 groups of 4 teams) competing at venues in 8 host countries.

The 8 group winners, the 7 best runners-up and the host team (not yet determined) will compete in the finals.

The qualifying round will take place from October 7 to October 11. During the preparation process, the Vietnamese team is expected to have an “A” level friendly match next September.

As part of the preparation plan for the 2024 Asian Futsal Qualifiers, the Vietnamese futsal team also had a quality training trip in South America.

Here, coach Giustozzi Diego Raul and his team will have 6 friendly matches against Paraguay and Argentina.

Both opponents have superior skills and class, which has helped the Vietnamese futsal team improve their fighting spirit as well as their expertise.

Currently, the futsal players have returned to their clubs to practice before competing in the second leg of the 2023 National Futsal Championship, which will begin on June 28.
