Vietnam team is about to gather: Coach Kim Sang Sik unexpectedly faces difficulties

The Vietnamese team did not have enough players in the first days of preparation for the decisive match against Malaysia in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

Quang Hai and other CAHN players were the latest to join the Vietnam national team.

Preparing for the "final" match of Group F with Malaysia in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team has officially set the gathering date. Accordingly, coach Kim Sang Sik's team will gather in Hanoi on May 26, right after the end of round 25 of the V-League.

However, in the first week of training, the Vietnamese team was short of many players. The reason is that according to VPF's schedule, Binh Duong had a make-up match for round 23 against CAHN on May 29. On June 3, CAHN continued to have a make-up match for round 20 against Binh Dinh at Quy Nhon Stadium.

Thus, the earliest date for Binh Duong players to join the Vietnam national team is May 30, while the earliest date for CAHN and Binh Dinh players to join the team is June 4, so there will only be 2-3 training sessions before the "Golden Star Warriors" leave for Malaysia.

Also during the first training session of the Vietnam team, coach Kim Sang Sik and 4 players Duy Manh, Hoang Duc, Hai Long and Van Vi went to Malaysia to attend the match between Southeast Asian All-Stars and MU (May 28). Immediately after the match, the members of the Vietnam team returned home.

Having many match schedules not only affects the training plan of the Vietnamese team, but can also overload the players, especially the CAHN players.

In addition to the V-League make-up matches or the match against MU, Quang Hai and his teammates will also play in the first leg (May 14 at home) and second leg (May 21, away) of the 2024/25 Southeast Asian Club Cup.

Coach Polking of CAHN is showing concern about Quang Hai's situation as he has to play continuously for the next month. The head coach of the police team even said that he will consider whether to let number 19 participate in the match with MU or not.

With a tight schedule ahead, injuries could happen to the players. This is something that coach Kim Sang Sik has reason to worry about before the important match against Malaysia, on June 10 away.
