EUR/USD world exchange rate today 5/21/2025
On the international market, the euro was recorded at 4:30 a.m. trading at 1.1257 USD/EUR, up 0.0016 VND compared to yesterday's closing price (May 20).
ECB Governing Council member Klaas Knot is said to be leaning towards a rate cut at the policy meeting on June 5.
The market has now almost certainly priced in a cut at this meeting and is even expecting two more cuts by the end of the year, which has investors paying particular attention to the monetary policy differential between the European Central Bank (ECB) and the US Federal Reserve (Fed), a key factor influencing the EUR/USD outlook in the near term.
If the euro is to continue to appreciate in the medium term, the market needs further impetus from the possibility of a more aggressive Fed easing, thereby narrowing the interest rate differential between the two regions.
In the short term, investors will be closely watching a slew of key economic data due this week, with the focus on preliminary PMIs due on Thursday, along with Germany’s IFO business sentiment report on May 22.
These data will help shed more light on the health of the eurozone economy and influence expectations for further ECB policy.
