All three major US stock indexes edged up, while gold prices eased from a near four-week high as the greenback strengthened.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) said the global economy is on track for a sharper contraction than forecast just a few months ago, while the United Nations’ International Labor Organization (ILO) also downgraded its global jobs outlook due to worsening economic conditions caused by trade tensions.
On economic data, a report from the US Labor Department showed that the number of unfilled jobs rose unexpectedly in April, while new orders for factory-made goods fell more than analysts had forecast.
Investors are now focused on Friday's May jobs report, which economists polled by Reuters expect the U.S. economy to have added 130,000 jobs last month and the unemployment rate to have held steady at 4.2 percent.
