In the latest training session (April 5 night, Vietnam time), coach Cristiano Roland gave the players extra practice hours to practice attacking and shooting coordination with very strict requirements. According to the Brazilian coach, U17 Vietnam needs to cherish every shot because when facing strong opponents, opportunities will not appear much.

In the second round of the group stage of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship, U17 Vietnam faced U17 Japan. The team from the land of the rising sun showed its strength as a championship candidate when it defeated U17 UAE with a score of 4-1 in the opening match. Meanwhile, U17 Vietnam held U17 Australia to a 1-1 draw.

Vietnam U17 defeated Japan U17 in a friendly tournament last year. However, the opponent's squad for the 2025 AFC U17 Championship in Saudi Arabia is completely different. Therefore, coach Cristiano Roland and his team are very cautious.

"The Japanese U17 squad has changed a lot compared to before, but they are always a candidate for the championship of the tournament. As for the Vietnamese U17 team, the whole team determined that in the group stage, every match would be a final. We have also carefully studied our opponents and always aim to win 3 points," goalkeeper Hoa Xuan Tin said in an interview before the match.

The U17 Vietnam defense assessed that the U17 Japan team was strong in crossing the ball towards striker number 10, Minato Yoshida. This player scored the first 2 goals for the U17 Japan team within 15 minutes in the match against the U17 UAE. Goalkeeper Hoa Xuan Tin and his teammates reviewed the video and discussed countermeasures.

The match between U17 Vietnam and U17 Japan will take place at 10pm on April 7. Coach Cristiano Roland and his team will continue to compete at Okadh Sport Club Stadium in Taif city, just like the opening match.
