Among those arrested and taken into a car on April 27 was Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, according to St. Louis Today , citing Megan Green, who participated in the protest. Stein is an anti-Israel activist.

Like the Green Party in general, Stein supports boycotts and sanctions against Israel. On her website, she calls Israel's actions against Hamas in Gaza a "genocide," according to The Times of Israel .
Many of the protests, in which police have arrested hundreds of people in recent weeks for rioting, have also included calls for sanctions against Israel. At this weekend’s protests, police arrested more than 200 people at the University of Washington and three other schools, including Northeastern University; Arizona State University and Indiana University, according to The Time of Israel .
At Arizona State University, police arrested 69 protesters early on April 27, according to Reuters citing a statement from the school.
Arizona State University said "a group of people — most of whom were not students, faculty or staff — created an encampment and protest" and were arrested and charged with criminal trespass after refusing to disperse.
