At Bai Dai Street, Thanh Son 9 Ward, the reality over the years shows that Lane 64 has seriously degraded. The road is only about 2.5m wide, with dirt on both sides, no drainage system, and no lighting. In the rainy season, water stagnates; in the dry season, dust flies, affecting daily life. This is also a road that people have repeatedly requested to be renovated.

Faced with that situation, Uong Bi ward has reviewed and put lane 64 into the priority investment list, based on the directive documents and Plan No. 272/KH-UBND dated October 21, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee on improving urban quality. The approved project scale has a total length of 675m, of which 600m of the main route is 7.5m wide with curbs and sidewalks on each side 2m wide; 75m of the branch route is 5.5m wide. The route is planned with a B600 drainage ditch under the sidewalk, underground electricity, and synchronous lighting; at the same time, adding a landscape campus, sports field and parking space behind Tran Hung Dao Primary School.
As soon as the project was announced, propaganda work was carried out synchronously by the Party Committee and the residential area. Mr. Le Van Luan, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Thanh Son 9 Ward, said: “The residential area organized a meeting to publicize all project information, from drawings to the scope of influence for each household. We directly met each family to mobilize and clearly explain the significance of the road expansion. Thanks to that, people all agreed and reached a high level of consensus.”
Mr. Hoang Ngoc Thanh, a resident living on the road, shared: “Last year, Typhoon Yagi damaged the entire corrugated iron roof. My family had just repaired it a few months ago. Now that the road is being upgraded, my family has to demolish the surrounding wall and cut off part of the roof. However, we fully support the road expansion, creating common benefits for the entire residential area.”

Implementing the province's plan 272 on improving the quality of urban areas and residential areas, the Ward Party Committee has issued many directive documents on developing projects and resolutions on urban beautification; established a Steering Committee to implement the task of improving urban quality. The Ward People's Council adjusted the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 to promptly allocate capital. The goal is to synchronously improve urban infrastructure, handle flooding and environmental pollution in the period 2025-2030. The project clearly states that the central streets that need investment include Ly Thuong Kiet, Hoa Binh, Thuong Mai , Phan Dinh Phung, Tran Quoc Toan, Nguyen Trai, Dong May, Tran Quang Khai and Bai Dai with a total estimated cost of 286 billion VND.
In 2025, the ward will carry out 6 urban beautification projects with a total investment of over 38 billion VND; at the same time, it will submit and get approved a list of 10 projects to deal with flooding and environmental pollution, with a total investment of over 46 billion VND. The projects focus on upgrading drainage ditches, improving roads, and handling flooding and landslides.
In parallel, the ward has deployed 4 projects to serve community activities such as a children's playground in the square, an outdoor sports area, a playground - flower garden in Quang Trung 7 area and a walking path - landscape in Hoa Binh Guest House area. The ward has also reviewed all public land funds to arrange additional community activity areas, parking lots and multi-functional public facilities.
Mr. Truong Quoc Huy, Deputy Head of the Economic - Infrastructure Department of Uong Bi Ward, said: The implementation of the projects is divided into clear milestones: Starting construction of qualified works before November 15, 2025; completing the group of works to welcome the 14th National Party Congress before January 15, 2026; completing the group of works to celebrate the Party - celebrate Binh Ngo Spring before February 3, 2026 and the group of works to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the ward's establishment before July 1, 2026. The capital for implementation is from the provincial budget according to Decision 3943/QD-UBND dated October 18, 2025, increased local budget revenue and other legal socialized sources.
With the motto of publicity - transparency - consensus, along with the participation of the people and the grassroots political system, Uong Bi ward is creating a clear change in urban beautification work; gradually building a civilized and modern urban appearance, contributing to the implementation of the development goals of the city and the province in the new period.
