In the first 10 months of 2025, rice exports will reach more than 7.2 million tons, with a turnover of 3.7 billion USD and an average price of 511 USD per ton. The export structure will shift strongly to fragrant rice, Japonica rice and especially rice produced using low-emission processes.
The collective brand “Green Vietnamese Rice, Low Emissions” has initially made its mark, with about 20,000 tons labeled and 500 tons exported to the Japanese market – which has very strict requirements on quality and sustainable processes. This is an important foundation for Vietnamese rice to increase its added value, aiming at the high-end segment.
The development of green rice is also linked to the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice in the Mekong Delta by 2030, contributing to the commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
