UpRace Releases 2023 Impact Report

The steps of UpRace 2023 have brought light to 445 visually impaired people in remote areas, awarded 1,655 scholarships to disadvantaged children in highland and island areas, and greened dozens of hectares of forest to protect the people of Central Vietnam.

According to the 2023 Impact Report just released by UpRace on August 28, with the message "The Joyful Road", UpRace 2023 recorded the participation of more than 632,000 athletes, completing nearly 7 million km of running distance. The amount equivalent to nearly 7 billion VND was converted and donated to Social Partners including Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, Association for the Support of Vietnamese Disabled and Orphans (ASVHO), and Green Viet Biodiversity Conservation Center (Green Viet) to carry out community missions.  

UpRace 2023 recorded the support of 23 sponsors, 4,832 teams participating in the rankings with nearly 860,000 valid runs. This is also a project with a high diversity of nationalities of "runners", with 67 countries and territories.

The offline event UpRace Day 2023 taking place in two major cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, also brought in impressive numbers, with 2,593 successful ticket sales, 576 million VND converted from sponsorship items for runners. The entire amount of ticket sales was donated by the Organizing Committee to social organizations participating in UpRace 2023. In addition, a series of student running events in the North and South were enthusiastically organized by universities including: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Science, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology and Ton Duc Thang University with a scale of up to 3,000 students and school staff.

Through the project, more than 600,000 athletes have joined hands to fulfill social responsibility with a great mission: Carrying out the journey of giving, to help other journeys continue.

With the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, 1,655 scholarships for poor students in border and island areas have been awarded to 17 schools and units in 11 provinces and cities across the country. In addition, the “Wheel of Love” project has also awarded 200 bicycles to students in difficult circumstances, supporting their journey to school.

“With UpRace, every step you take will help us bring the joy of going to school to students in remote areas, border areas and remote islands of the Fatherland; helping soldiers feel secure to stay at sea, on islands, on borders to protect the Fatherland” , Ms. Truong My Hoa - Former Vice President, President of Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, Head of the Club "For Hoang Sa - Truong Sa Beloved" shared.

For the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Disabled People and Orphans (ASVDO), the support fund of UpRace 2023 has also provided 199 livelihood support packages for people with disabilities; helped successfully perform 445 cataract surgeries, bringing light to the visually impaired.

The UpRace project also helps the Vietnam Water Biodiversity Conservation Center (GreenViet) to soon realize the project of planting 50 hectares of large timber forest in Hoa Bac commune (Da Nang city), where the Ko Tu community lives. At the same time, the project also helps to "green" 63,600 large timber trees planted in open forests and bare hills in Quang Nam province.

“ With the project of planting large timber forests, we hope that people will develop livestock models, grow medicinal plants under the forest canopy, and develop tourism. In the long term, it will not only help people stabilize their economy but also contribute to reducing risks of natural disasters such as flash floods, landslides, etc. ”, said Mr. Truong Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Bac commune.

With the support fund from UpRace 2023, in addition to the projects that have been implemented, the next projects of Green Viet will continue to be implemented in the rainy season from August to November and end at the end of 2024 to increase the survival rate of the plants.
