Van Don proactively builds fire prevention and fighting plans

Van Don is currently a dynamically developing locality, leading to rapid urbanization, with many large-scale construction projects that have been and are being implemented. In addition to the development, there are many challenges for security and order in general and fire prevention and fighting in particular in the district in the coming time; especially for markets, commercial centers, high-rise buildings and residential houses combined with business.

The locality currently has 771 establishments under fire prevention and fighting management, 44 establishments with fire and explosion risks, mainly concentrated in markets, establishments trading in gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas, service businesses, karaoke, motels, hotels, ships... These establishments are interspersed with residential areas, making them difficult to access in case of fire, easily causing the fire to spread and become larger.

Strengthening fire prevention and fighting work in the area, Van Don has implemented many solutions synchronously. The locality has focused on issuing directive documents and implementing Directive No. 47-CT/TW dated June 25, 2015 and related documents to organizations, individuals and people to clearly understand the Party's policies and the State's laws. Thereby raising awareness and responsibility for fire prevention and fighting work...

Propaganda, education , dissemination of legal knowledge on fire prevention and fighting, measures to prevent fires and explosions, handling situations, escape skills, and emergency escape when fires and explosions occur to people, production facilities, business households and workers. In the past 10 years, 116 propaganda and training classes on fire prevention and fighting have been organized with 8,585 participants, 4,363 certificates of training on fire prevention and fighting and rescue have been issued; 2,536 documents have been distributed...

The work of building a movement for the entire population to participate in fire prevention, fire fighting, rescue and relief work has been focused on. Every year, the locality has developed a plan to respond to the "National Fire Prevention and Fighting Day on October 4" and "Labor Safety and Health - Fire Prevention and Rescue Month". From there, the movement for the entire population to participate in fire prevention and fighting with campaigns, patriotic emulation movements and build models associated with propaganda to enhance the role and responsibility of the people, encourage people to participate in fire prevention and fighting. The locality is currently maintaining 129 models in the movement for the entire population to participate in fire prevention and fighting and rescue.

Along with that, in order to meet the requirements of fire prevention and rescue tasks in the new situation according to the "4 on-site" motto, the locality always urges and directs each agency, enterprise and business household to establish a grassroots fire prevention and rescue team. By the end of April 2025, 771 establishments under fire prevention and rescue management had established an on-site fire prevention and rescue team with 3,855 team members. In addition to the civil defense and grassroots fire prevention and rescue forces, a new specialized fire prevention and rescue team with 15 team members and 3 fire trucks was established in the locality at Van Don International Airport. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force has developed 272 fire prevention and rescue plans for the police agency, developed 282 rescue plans, organized 255 fire prevention and rescue drills for residential areas with fire and explosion hazards and establishments with fire and explosion hazards, etc.

Over the past 10 years, the locality has established 22 interdisciplinary inspection teams to implement fire prevention and fighting regulations at agencies, units, enterprises and business households in the area, inspected 165 establishments and made recommendations on 520 contents of fire prevention and fighting work. The Fire Police force coordinated with functional units to organize fire prevention and fighting safety inspections at 5,807 establishments; made 5,807 inspection records, recommended to fix 7,114 contents of fire prevention and fighting work; made 619 administrative violation records, and fined 429.1 million VND.

The close coordination between departments, branches and forces in implementing tasks, strengthening inspection, proposing timely remedies for loopholes, shortcomings and problems in fire prevention and fighting, improving the effectiveness of state management, therefore, the fire and explosion situation in facilities, houses and means of transport in the area did not have many complicated developments, the number of fires was effectively controlled.

From 2015 to the end of April 2025, there were 63 fire-related incidents in the area, 21 of which were subject to statistics, with estimated property damage of over 6.3 billion VND, 19.06 hectares of forest, and no human casualties.
