Chairman of Ward 2 People's Committee Le Thanh Binh said that after checking the ward, 4 groups of beggars were discovered in the area and other wards of the town, including 18 people from Sepon district, Savannakhet province, Laos. Specifically, group 1 consists of 2 adults and 6 children, often wandering and begging on the roads with traffic lights in Ward 2. At night, this group of people sleeps at the boat dock opposite the Roza guesthouse. Group 2 consists of 3 adults aged 45 to 65, often wandering and begging in the market area of ​​Quang Tri town, along Ngo Quyen street, and rows of coffee shops.

While moving these 11 beggars to the intersection of National Highway 1 to catch a bus, 7 more people were discovered. This group consisted of 2 adults and 5 children, wandering and begging on the roads with traffic lights on National Highway 1 in Ward 3 and Ward 1. This group spent the night at the Vietnam Nostalgia Tourism Development Center at the intersection of National Highway 1.

“While waiting for the vehicle to take the subjects back to their residence, the working group encouraged these people to return to their hometowns to live and work, and not wander around begging. In addition, with the attention of Tan Quang Dung bus company (running the Da Nang - Lao Bao route), they supported the beggars to Lao Bao Border Gate,” Mr. Binh added.

Speaking to reporters, a representative of Tan Quang Dung bus company said that when they received a call to the hotline asking for support, they immediately accepted and coordinated with local authorities to organize the return of 18 Lao people to their hometown.
