World gold price turns down sharply
Gold price today December 16, 2023: Domestic gold price continues to increase by 200,000 VND/tael in both buying and selling directions. World gold price turns to decrease sharply.

At the time of survey at 5:00 a.m. on December 16, 2023, DOJI listed the price of 9999 gold at 73.20 million VND/tael for buying and 74.30 million VND/tael for selling.
At Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, at the time of survey, the listed price of SJC gold was at 73.50 - 74.10 million VND/tael (buy - sell).
SJC gold price at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited is also traded by the enterprise at 73.50 - 74.45 million VND/tael (buy - sell). Meanwhile, at Bao Tin Manh Hai, it is being traded at 73.40 - 74.72 million VND/tael (buy - sell).
World gold prices have fallen sharply. According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was 2,018,200. Today's gold price decreased by 17.79 USD/ounce compared to yesterday's gold price. Converted according to the current exchange rate at Vietcombank , the world gold price is about 58,293 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is still 15,207 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
Gold prices fell below resistance as the US Dollar (USD) bounced after US Federal Reserve Chairman and CEO John Williams dashed hopes of a rate hike in March.
Japanese Yen exchange rate suddenly drops across the board
The Japanese Yen exchange rate today, December 16, 2023, suddenly decreased simultaneously. Survey at banks, specifically as follows:

At Vietcombank , the Vietcombank Japanese Yen exchange rate is 166.13 VND/JPY and the selling rate is 175.86 VND/JPY, down 0.28 VND on the buying side and down 0.29 VND on the selling side.
At Vietinbank, the Yen exchange rate decreased by 0.5 VND in both buying and selling directions, equivalent to 167.00 VND/JPY and 176.70 VND/JPY.
At BIDV Bank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate increased by 0.72 VND in buying and increased by 0.74 VND in selling, reaching 157.48 VND/JPY and 165.75 VND/JPY, respectively.
At Agribank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate for buying and selling is 158.80 VND/JPY and 163.74 VND/JPY, respectively - up 0.45 VND for buying and 0.48 VND for selling.
At Eximbank, the buying price decreased by 0.02 VND and the selling price decreased by 0.03 VND, respectively at 168.52 VND/JPY and 173.23 VND/JPY.
At Techcombank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate decreased by 0.01 VND in buying and increased by 4.82 VND in selling with prices of 164.51 VND/JPY and 175.56 VND/JPY, respectively.
At Sacombank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate increased by 0.5 VND in the buying and selling directions, corresponding to the prices of 168.80 VND/JPY and 175.35 VND/JPY.
At NCB Bank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate is 166.49 VND/JPY for buying and 173.44 VND/JPY for selling (corresponding to a decrease of 0.69 VND for buying and selling).
At HSBC Bank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate decreased by 0.08 VND in both buying and selling directions, at 166.18 VND/JPY and 172.21 VND/JPY, respectively.
Thus, today's Japanese Yen exchange rate at Sacombank is the bank with the highest Japanese Yen buying rate and Agribank is the bank with the lowest selling rate among the banks.
World oil prices continue to rise today
In the world market, gasoline prices today, December 16, continued to increase from the previous 3 sessions.
Data from Oilprice shows that at 8:31 p.m. on December 15 (Vietnam time), Brent crude oil was trading at $77.13 per barrel, up $0.52, or 0.68%, from the previous session. WTI crude oil was at $72.09 per barrel, up $0.51, or 0.71%, from the previous session.

Analysts said oil prices rose thanks to positive forecasts about global oil demand and a weaker US dollar.
Oil prices continued to rise as major organizations such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) both had a more optimistic view on the demand outlook.
In its monthly report released on December 14, the IEA said world oil consumption will increase by 1.1 million barrels per day by 2024, up 130,000 barrels per day from its previous forecast.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) a day earlier forecast world oil consumption in 2024 at 2.25 million barrels/day. This level is more than twice as high as the IEA's forecast.
In addition, the oil market moved positively after the US Federal Reserve (Fed) meeting ended on December 13 when the agency decided to keep interest rates unchanged, while signaling the possibility of interest rate cuts next year.
In a Reuters survey, analysts forecast Brent crude prices to average $84.43 a barrel in 2024.
Coffee extends gains
Domestic coffee prices were updated at 5:00 a.m. on December 16, 2023 as follows: Coffee prices are stable and continue to increase for the 6th session of the week. Currently, the average coffee price in the Central Highlands provinces is about 65,900 VND/kg, the highest purchase price in Dak Nong province is 66,200 VND/kg.

Specifically, the coffee purchase price in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces on December 16, 2023 was quite high at 65,900 VND/kg.
The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha is purchased at 65,500 VND/kg.
Today's coffee price (December 16) in Dak Lak province is the highest; in Cu M'gar district, coffee is purchased at 66,100 VND/kg, and in Ea H'leo district, Buon Ho town, it is purchased at the same price of 66,200 VND/kg.
