On August 16, the Vietnamese sports delegation held a ceremony to depart for the 19th ASIAD taking place in Hangzhou (China) this September.
Vietnam's women's 4x400m relay team promises to win medals at the 19th ASIAD.
At the departure ceremony, the leaders of the Vietnamese sports delegation announced the rewards for athletes with outstanding achievements.
Accordingly, the Vietnamese sports delegation will reward 200 million VND to the athlete who wins the gold medal.
But the Department of Sports and Physical Training said that this number will increase even higher if there are more sponsors.
“We continue to call on partners to have better rewards for athletes with high achievements at ASIAD 19,” said Mr. Dang Ha Viet, Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training.
In addition, according to state regulations, athletes who win an ASIAD gold medal will be awarded 140 million VND, silver medalists 85 million VND, bronze medalists 55 million VND. If they break an ASIAD record, they will receive an additional 55 million VND.
Thus, if winning the gold medal at ASIAD 19, the athlete will be awarded at least 340 million VND.
In addition, each sports federation also has a budget to reward athletes participating in the tournament taking place in September 2023.
Typical of these is the Vietnam Athletics Federation promising to reward 600 million VND for each team gold medal, including 4 athletes and 2 coaches (each person receives 100 million VND).
If winning an individual gold medal, the athlete will be awarded 300 million VND (the athlete will receive 200 million VND, the coach will receive 100 million VND).
Related information, at ASIAD 19, the Vietnamese sports delegation set a target of striving to win from 2 to 5 gold medals.
