On May 1, 1964, from its predecessor, Tin Lang Son, the first issue of Lang Son Newspaper was introduced to readers. After more than 60 years, Lang Son Newspaper has grown, affirming its role as the mouthpiece of the Provincial Party Committee; the voice of the Party Committee, government and people of Lang Son province.
To achieve the development as it is today, we cannot fail to mention the dedication of generations of cadres and reporters. Journalist Ha Nghien, former Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son Newspaper, with more than 30 years of work, has made many important contributions to the development of the newspaper. Although he is 81 years old, the journalist still remembers the beautiful memories of a difficult but proud time in his career.
Journalist Ha Nghien shared: Formerly a cadre of Van Quan District Party Committee, in 1969, I was transferred to work at Lang Son Newspaper. At the end of 1969, I was sent by the agency to study the first course, Faculty of Journalism, Central Propaganda University (now Academy of Journalism and Propaganda). After more than 3 years of training, I returned to journalism and held many positions from reporter to editorial secretary. In 1982, I was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son Newspaper. As the "locomotive" leading the editorial office, I focused on training and orienting propaganda for the team of reporters. At that time, the agency did not have a working office, facilities... were lacking in all aspects, but the reporters were still close-knit and united. In the early years when the country entered the period of renovation, our country's press also received a new breeze. The information content in various types of press has many innovations, posing many challenges for the Lang Son Newspaper's reporting team. In order to overcome these difficulties, I regularly orient and encourage reporters to actively go to the grassroots, closely follow the breath of life, objectively and truthfully reflect the innovations of the locality and the country; promote and praise advanced examples, new economic models...; at the same time, innovate the writing style and presentation to keep up with the trends of the new era of journalism.
Along with the orientation work, in order for the press work to go into depth and reflect the aspirations of the people, we cannot fail to mention the role of reporters - those who directly engage in collecting information to complete the article.
As one of the veteran journalists, having worked for many years at Lang Son Newspaper, journalist Hoang Thanh Luyen, former Head of the Political - Social Reporter Department, confided: Before becoming the head of the department, I worked as a reporter with countless trips, meetings, and the most unforgettable memory in my professional life was the days of working directly at the Northern border war (1979). As a soldier, when participating in propaganda work and fighting on the ideological front, I and the army "took the hardships" to be present in time, closely following the developments of the war to record important milestones. I had to find every way to send news articles back, sometimes it took 3-4 days to reach the editorial office. The difficulties and hardships when working during that period are countless, but now when I think back, I am always proud that I overcame everything, completing the assigned political tasks with a sense of responsibility and love for the job.
A newspaper not only needs attractive content but also needs aesthetics, easy access, and information absorption. To do this, we must mention the silent people behind the scenes. Ms. Vuong Hue Lan, former technician of Lang Son Newspaper (now Lang Son Radio and Television Newspaper) shared: In 1997, I was hired as a typist at Lang Son Newspaper with the task of retyping news and articles from reporters and collaborators using a typewriter. About 2 years later, the agency was equipped with a system of computers, increased human resources and established a technical team. We were given the opportunity by the agency's leaders to participate in training courses and learn how to present newspapers on computers. From simple presentations, my colleagues and I have constantly improved our skills and methods so that Lang Son Newspaper, when delivered to readers, is not only attractive in content but also beautiful in form.
The memories of journalists through the ages, along with their spirit of effort and not being afraid of hardships, are a great motivation for today's generation of cadres and reporters to constantly strive, continue to contribute, and contribute to building an increasingly developed revolutionary press.
