Venezuela wants Vietnam to share experience in science and technology development

The Vice President of Venezuela emphasized that Venezuela wants Vietnam to share its experience in areas of strength such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), innovation, information technology, digital transformation, etc.

At the invitation of the Venezuelan Ministry of Science and Technology , from May 27-31, a delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology led by Professor-Doctor Tu Minh Phuong, Chairman of the Council of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, visited and worked in Venezuela to strengthen cooperation in the field of science and technology.

During the visit, the delegation met with Vice President and Minister of Science and Technology Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, met with Deputy Foreign Minister Tatiana Pugh, worked with the Board of Directors of the National University of Sciences of Venezuela (UNC) and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute of Posts and Telecommunications Technology and UNC.

Welcoming the delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, Vice President Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez stated that in the context of siege and embargo, the Venezuelan Government prioritizes investment policies and sustainable development of science and technology, serving the interests of the people as well as ensuring national sovereignty .

To effectively implement the set goals, Venezuela focuses on promoting scientific and technological cooperation with traditional friendly countries such as China, Russia, Vietnam and Iran.

Based on the traditional relationship and the Vietnam-Venezuela Comprehensive Partnership, Vice President Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez affirmed that strengthening scientific and technological cooperation will help the two countries complement each other in their socio-economic development, and emphasized that Venezuela hopes that Vietnam will share its experiences in areas of strength such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), innovation, information technology, digital transformation, etc.

For his part, Professor-Doctor Tu Minh Phuong sincerely thanked the solidarity and support that the Venezuelan people and progressive forces have given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation and reunification and in the current cause of national construction and defense.

According to Professor-Doctor Tu Minh Phuong, Vietnam identifies science and technology development as a decisive factor in the development of nations, a key tool in implementing sustainable development goals; playing an important role in economic growth, solving challenges in all areas of socio-economic life.

Vietnam is ready to promote cooperation with Venezuela in the fields of science and technology to work together towards building a developed and prosperous country.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Professor-Doctor Tu Minh Phuong, UNC Vice President Roberto Bertancourt said that the Venezuelan Government's establishment of UNC demonstrates its determination to turn Venezuela into a center for scientific research and development in the Latin American region.

Under the direct management of the Venezuelan Ministry of Science and Technology, UNC will play a core role in training high-quality human resources and talents, researching and developing key and cutting-edge technology industries and fields.

With 16 training majors, UNC has many training programs such as AI, cybersecurity, biotechnology, data science, nuclear physics, data science, oceanography... This 2025-2026 school year, the school has recruited more than 2,000 students from localities across the country.

In order to concretize the cooperation contents between the two countries, within the framework of the visit, the Vietnam Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology and UNC signed a Memorandum of Understanding, according to which the two schools will focus on exchanging cooperation programs and projects in education and training, promoting academic exchanges between lecturers and students as well as organizing scientific seminars between the two universities.

Also within the framework of the working trip, the delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of UNC School, attended the International Conference with the theme "Scientific Convergence for a Shared Future," and visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy./.
