Why are young people afraid of getting married?

With the development of the times, the concept of marriage and family of young people today has changed a lot. The trend of "late marriage" is gradually becoming popular. Some young people choose to stay single to freely develop their careers and enjoy life instead of choosing to fall in love, get married and have children.

Changing thinking about marriage and family

At the age of 29, with a stable job and a pretty appearance, Ms. Le Thi Thuy Anh (Can Duoc town, Can Duoc district, Long An province) is not ready to enter a love relationship. "My parents have repeatedly urged me to bring my lover home to meet their family, but right now, I just want to focus on working and developing myself to be able to advance in my career rather than falling in love and getting married. I feel that I am not mature enough, and my finances are not stable enough to be a wife and a mother," Ms. Thuy Anh said.

Pham Hung (An Luc Long commune, Chau Thanh district) shared: “I still have many plans to do so I don’t want to get married in the next few years. In my opinion, when I get married, there are many things to worry about, when I have children, I also need to have the conditions to take care of them properly. Currently, I only work enough to take care of myself and help my parents a little. If I had to take care of my own family, it would be too much pressure to bear. Being single, I can freely pursue my passion and put all my effort into my work.”

The trend of getting married late, being afraid of love, being lazy to love like Ms. Thuy Anh or Mr. Pham Hung is not rare among young people today. Instead of wishing to find a soul mate, enjoying happy moments with their lover, many young people are afraid of being bound by the two words "marriage", "family", "children". They can date, fall in love but are afraid of getting married .

In reality, the concept of marriage and family in Vietnam is facing new changes and challenges. The traditional concept of marriage “A smart man gets married, a grown-up woman gets married” is shaken and difficult to maintain its value. Under the impact of the market mechanism, Western culture, and 4.0 technology, families suffer many negative aspects such as loose husband-wife relationships, increased number of single people, bachelors, and same-sex marriages.

According to many young people, getting married late or choosing to stay single can open up more job opportunities as well as more time to improve themselves, becoming the most complete version of themselves without having to worry about any binding relationships. This helps them feel more comfortable and not regret missing out on their youth.

Family - The Foundation of Society

Family is the foundation of society, formed and maintained based on marriage, blood relations and fostering relationships. A happy family means a prosperous and developed society. Besides the advantages, the trend of late marriage of young people and the multi-dimensional impacts from the economy, society and culture that form a single lifestyle not only shake the value of marriage but can also have long-term effects on the population structure, values and important functions of the family in the present and the future.

The decline in marriage registration rates means that the birth rate also declines. Population aging is an inevitable result of declining birth rates, especially when society develops and living conditions improve. The consequences of low birth rates and population aging have long-term impacts on individuals, families and society.

According to Secretary of the Youth Union of Que My Thanh Commune, Tan Tru District - Nguyen Thanh Hai, in any era, the family is always the cradle to form, educate and nurture the personality of each person.

According to Secretary of the Youth Union of Que My Thanh Commune, Tan Tru District - Nguyen Thanh Hai, in any era, the family is always the cradle to form, educate, and nurture the personality of each person. In modern society, each person seems to be caught up in work and other relationships, but deep in the mind, the family is always the most sacred place. The family is a "warm nest", a place to maintain the race, an environment to preserve, educate, and pass on national cultural values to its members.

In reality, to get married, young couples often experience feelings of love, many relationships, and choices. When signing the marriage certificate, both parties must be responsible for their other half and themselves to build a happy home together.

In today's society, when both women and men have certain successes and positions in society, both husband and wife must understand, share and work together to build a family. In addition, each person needs to learn how to live in harmony with others, respect and listen to each other in all situations, only then can we eliminate unnecessary fears in modern married life and family.

Marriage is the crystallization of love between couples, the basis for establishing a family, and the family is the cell of society. Relationships and the quality of marriage are the foundation of family life. Building a progressive, happy family, truly a warm home for each person, contributes to the sustainability and stability of society. Therefore, marriage and family always have important values in social life, need to be preserved and nurtured./.
