Institute of Socio-Economic Research, Saigon University cooperates with KAS Foundation of Germany

On the morning of May 29, the Institute for Socio-Economic Research, Saigon University (RISE) and the Konrad - Adenauer - Stiftung Representative Office in Vietnam (KAS) signed a cooperation agreement.

According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in the fields of research and strategic and policy consulting; training and capacity development; knowledge transfer and academic dialogue in the fields of socio -economic development, institutions, digital transformation and building modern governance.

Mr. Christopher Scholl - Deputy Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City - said that Vietnam and Germany have differences but also many similarities. Experts will create a solid foundation for development. He also said that the signing of cooperation between the two units is a remarkable event in the 50-year milestone of Vietnam-Germany relations.

"Vietnam is developing rapidly in all aspects. For this development to be better and better, we need the connection and experience of scientists from universities and experts. Germany and Vietnam both want to develop. We need practical research to promote change in the new era," the German Deputy Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City shared about the desire to contribute this cooperation to the development of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

Speaking about the cooperation between the two sides, Mr. Florian Feyerabend - Chief Representative of KAS in Vietnam - said that KAS is currently operating in more than 100 countries to promote the rule of law and sustainable development. KAS has been operating in Vietnam for 32 years, working closely with policy makers, government agencies, research institutes and universities to promote effective governance, the role of people's representatives, market economy, as well as regional integration.

The organization pays special attention to promoting dialogue and knowledge exchange between Vietnam, Germany, the European Union and ASEAN.

"Ho Chi Minh City is growing rapidly and constantly innovating. This creates many opportunities but also many challenges. This raises important research questions in areas such as digital governance, integrated governance and sustainable economic development. These are the areas where the collaboration between KAS and RISE can contribute valuable perspectives, insights and solutions," said Mr. Florian Feyerabend.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, Mr. Do Viet Ha, said that with cooperation contents focusing on the fields of research and strategic and policy consulting, capacity development training and seminars, forums and policy dialogues, digital transformation and innovation issues, etc., this cooperation will bring practical results to serve the development of Ho Chi Minh City in the coming years.

The Institute for Socio-Economic Research of Saigon University (RISE) was established in early 2025. Former Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong is the Chairman of the Scientific Council.

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is a German political foundation, affiliated with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) - the party of former Chancellor Angela Merkel and current Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
