According to information from the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), at the meeting, leaders of the two ministries highly appreciated the effectiveness of bilateral cultural cooperation in recent times, notably the organization of Vietnam - Cambodia Cultural Weeks alternately over the years. This activity not only enriches cultural life but also acts as an important bridge between the people of the two countries, helping the people of the two countries share many similarities and become increasingly connected.

Agreeing on the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the leaders of the two ministries pledged to continue to effectively implement the Vietnam - Cambodia Cultural Cooperation Plan for the period 2023-2027. Accordingly, the Vietnam Cultural Week in Cambodia will be held in 2026. The two sides also pledged to support and send delegations to attend international art and film festivals hosted by each side.
Vietnam invited Cambodian art troupes to participate in events such as the ASEAN Arts Festival, the 2025 International Puppetry Festival, and invited Cambodia to send films to the 2026 Hanoi International Film Festival.
Regarding the development of cultural industries - a field in which Vietnam has many strengths, the Cambodian side asked Vietnam to share its experiences, especially in incorporating traditional cultural elements and handicrafts into creative products. Cambodia hopes that Vietnam will support the organization of specialized seminars to learn from the model of developing the cultural industry. Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed that Vietnam is ready to share its experiences and invites the Cambodian side to participate in upcoming conferences and seminars in this field.
Notably, the Cambodian side proposed that the two sides jointly organize a Vietnam-Cambodia ethnic fashion show to honor cultural heritage and promote national identity. Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong highly appreciated this initiative and suggested that the Cambodian side concretize the plan, aiming to organize it in 2027 - the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuously enhance cultural exchanges and foster the friendly neighborly relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
On the evening of June 10, the opening ceremony of the Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam 2025 took place at the Bac Lieu Provincial Cultural Center.
The event was held in two localities, Bac Lieu and Vinh Long, to introduce to the Vietnamese people the unique cultural features of Cambodia. The activities are part of a series of cultural exchanges in the Vietnam - Cambodia border area, contributing to enhancing understanding, connecting the community and promoting comprehensive cooperation between the people of the two countries. |
