Vietnam won two first prizes at the 2025 Southeast Asian Children's Film Festival

At the 2025 Southeast Asian Children's Film Festival held in Bangkok, Thailand, Vietnam won 2 first prizes out of 6 main categories.

This is a video /film festival for works "for, by and about children" in Southeast Asia, organized since 2017 with the desire to create a connecting platform between countries in the region to promote cultural understanding through children's stories.

The 5th Film Festival took place from November 14 to 15 in Bangkok, Thailand with the theme "Miracle of Peace ", celebrating the power of storytelling in nurturing understanding, kindness and harmony among children in Southeast Asia.

The festival brings together representatives from 10 countries in the region including Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam. This year's outstanding works are impressive for their capture of childhood world , cultural diversity and positive social impact.

According to journalist Nhat Hoa, Deputy Head of the Special Topics - Science and Education Department (Vietnam Television), the panel of 30 judges from 10 countries, under the coordination of Korean producer Huyn Sook Chung (who received Prix Jeunesse, Japan Prize, Chicago International Children's Festival), worked seriously to select the 6 best works from 25 films that entered the final round.

Two films of Vietnam Television participated and won first prize in two important categories.

Documentary "Khai's Walk" produced by producer and director Hong Hanh won first prize in the non-fiction - professional category for children aged 8 - 12. The work depicts the inspirational journey of Khai - a boy who faces many physical obstacles but always maintains an optimistic and strong spirit, becoming a symbol of perseverance and beautiful friendship.

The paper-cut animation film “Little Wonders: Cherishing Friend” directed by Le Binh and written by Kieu Phuong won first prize in the fiction - professional category. for children 7 years and under.

The paper-cut animation “Little Things - Cherish Friends” tells the story of how, after a small misunderstanding on the soccer field with To To, Bi recalls memories with his grandfather to realize the true meaning of friendship and “keeping peace”. Bi understands that friendship also has a special “kind of peace”, starting from understanding and love. The story ends with a warm reconciliation between Bi and To To – gentle but profound.

Both works were produced by the Department of Education and Future - Special Topics - Science and Technology (Vietnam Television) and broadcast on VTV7 channel.
