"After nearly 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States, the relationship between the two countries has developed very strongly, deeply, substantially and effectively. In particular, the two countries recently upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023," Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet answered reporters' questions at a regular press conference on the afternoon of October 31 about how the upcoming US presidential election will affect Vietnam-US relations. Deputy Spokesperson Doan Khac Viet added: "Currently, the two countries are closely coordinating to effectively implement major cooperation directions in the next 10 years and beyond as set out in the Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam-US relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development."
