On April 3, the sad news of the passing of General Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President, and former Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, received special attention from the Party and State of Vietnam.

General Secretary To Lam sent his condolences to the Lao leaders, all Lao people and the family of comrade Khamtay Siphandone, emphasizing that comrade Khamtay Siphandone was an outstanding leader who made great contributions to the revolutionary cause, protecting and developing Laos. He was also a loyal and devoted friend, a close comrade, always attached to Vietnam throughout the journey of fighting to protect the Fatherland and building the country of the two peoples.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, General Secretary To Lam and senior Lao leaders reviewed the important contributions of comrade Khamtay Siphandone to the Lao revolution, especially the close relationship between the Vietnamese and Lao revolutions. Lao leaders expressed their deep gratitude for the support of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, and affirmed that the special relationship between the two Parties, two States and two peoples will be continued and developed sustainably through generations of leaders.
During meetings with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, both sides appreciated the increasingly strong development of the Vietnam-Laos relationship. General Secretary To Lam also expressed his support for the important steps forward in Laos' development, emphasizing that the current streamlining and reorganization of the Lao state apparatus is an important task, contributing positively to the country's development in the new period.

Lao senior leaders also expressed their appreciation for Vietnam's lessons and affirmed that they will continue to learn and apply these valuable experiences to meet the country's development needs and improve the quality of people's lives.
The special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos was reaffirmed by both sides through meetings, with a commitment to continue promoting extensive cooperation, consolidating the great friendship and special ties between the two Parties, two States, and two peoples in the coming time.
Lao leaders affirmed that, although comrade Khamtay Siphandone has passed away, the next generation of leaders will continue to strengthen and nurture the special Vietnam-Laos relationship that previous generations of leaders have worked hard to build.
The Vietnamese high-ranking delegation shared with Laos experiences in national development and affirmed its readiness to continue supporting Laos in the cause of national construction and defense.
